What Sheep should know about “Holy” Laughter
14 Concerns About “Holy” Laughter and the “Laughing Revival”
(1) There is no biblical precedent for “holy” laughter.
Laughter is rarely mentioned in the Bible. Yet, when it is, the Bible seems to make more of a case for holy sorrow than for “holy” laughter. Scripture supports Solomon’s contention that “sorrow is better than laughter.” It does not support the present “laughing revival.”(2) Substituting the word joy for laughter is a non sequitur. It is inaccurate and misleading.
There is no scriptural authority for equating biblical references to joy with the involuntary manifestations of “holy” laughter. Just because there are insufficient Bible texts to make the case for “holy” laughter, it does not follow that you can simply redefine the word laughter by substituting the word joy.(3) “Holy” laughter advocates rarely, if ever, discuss the need to test the spirits.
The Bible warns us that not every supernatural manifestation is necessarily from God. 1 John 4:1 says, “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” Charles and Francis Hunter write in their book Holy Laughter, “Once you begin to walk in the supernatural you really have to be ready for anything and everything and never question the way God does it!”

Rodney Howard-Browne, self-styled “Holy Ghost Bartender,” has taken notice of the Strange Fire conference sponsored by Grace to You (October 16-18, 2013). He seems unnerved by the prospect that twenty-first-century charismatic phenomena are going to be examined in light of Scripture. Howard-Browne’s trademark giddiness has gone missing. Recently, he wrote this stream-of-consciousness rant on his Facebook page:

Kids in Ministry International (www.kidsinministry.com) is a prophetic apostolic ministry for kids. They are the ones that have Jesus Camp. If you go to their website and click on their blog (I have not linked to them because quite often these things disappear when they are brought into the light) you can read the June 9 entry called The “Bam” Went Inside Me, Grandma! that says:
And oh, by the way, a grandmother brought her 3 1/2 yr old grandaughter to meet me at the Ramp. She told me they’ve been watching Todd Bentley revival meetings every night on TV. She said whenever Todd says to pray, the little girl walks over to the TV set and lays her hand on the screen. Then whenever Todd prays for people and says “Bam!” (you have to know that’s Todd’s nonreligious trade mark!) the little girl will shout “Bam!” along with him. One night she went running back to her grandma saying, “Grandma, I felt the ‘Bam’ go inside of me!” If you have any awesome stories about your kids and revival, please let us know.

Have you been following the revival with Todd Bentley in Lakeland, FL? There have been some amazing things happening in and through children. There was a testimony of a 12 yr old girl in England who had an open vision of angels while whe was watching the tv broadcast. She could see them pouring oil and gold on the people and Todd and towards the end the angels avctually started interacting with her through the tv!
Another little girl also had an open vision after being healed and began prophesying that she saw children praying over kids who were in comas and they came out of it, and saw dead being raised, and more. This was an extremely intense audio clip. I hope I can get it on our website soon.
On their blog they also mention The Ramp (theramp.org), which is about the ‘army of God’ that is arising and a generation that is awakening (Lou Engle and Karen Wheaton are some of the names involved).
The concern here, as anyone can see, is for the lambs – the children and youth who are being trained to experience the same strange manifestations we have been seeing at the Lakeland outpouring.

One of huge characteristic of the apostolic and prophetic movement is being drunk in the spirit. “Have another drink” they shout, “Come and get some” and “More Lord”. However do we really want to fill our glass with this wine? The truth is that nowhere in scripture does God equate the Holy Spirit with staggering, loss of control, disrupted motor function, slurred speech, confusion, disorientation, or falling. In fact it appears scripture supports the OPPOSITE. We are admonished to stay sober and be vigilant- and all the more as we see the end approaching.
Of course it is not surprising that their followers would not know exactly what the Bible says for this movement discourages the use of scripture and exchanges this for “progressive” or “new” revelation from their prophets, and apostles. Questioning is not encouraged lest we touch the Lord’s anointed.
Inevitably these verses in Acts 2:14-16 are used to prove that “getting drunk in the Spirit” is ok and even encouraged and sanctioned by God! Is this the Truth? Let’s look at the scripture…

Now he wants Lakewind Church to pay $2.5 million for medical bills, lost income, and pain and suffering.
Matt Lincoln says he is suing after the church’s insurance company denied his claim for medical bills.
The 57-year-old has had two surgeries since the June 2007 injury but still feels pain in his back and legs.
He says he was asking God to have “a real experience” while praying.
Lincoln says he has fallen from the force of the spirit before but has always been caught by someone.
Lawyers for the church say other congregants saw him on the floor laughing after his fall. They say he failed to look out for his own safety.

There is a fascinating (and very disturbing) teaching by Stacy Campbell on Ecstatic Prophecy and Holy Spirit Possession that can be watched here:

At 3 minutes into her teaching Stacy describes a Buddhist festival in Thailand where people (Buddhists) who wanted to worship would cross this little line, and when they walked into the middle of this square they were hit by an evil spirit and demon possessed on the spot – vibrating, falling towards the altar, giving an offering to the demon. This gave Stacy the ‘heeby jeebies.’
This is ASTOUNDING because there is a video you can watch of Todd Bentley where he instructs the people coming up on stage to stand in a certain spot which he points to where the anointing is the strongest. If they stood there, said Todd, they would ‘get it.’ This spot was close to the pulpit where he said there was a ‘portal’ of some sort. Sure enough, who ever stood there would get struck, start jerking, and fall over. IS THIS ANY DIFFERENT THAN WHAT STACY CAMPBELL DESCRIBED AS DEMONIC POSSESSION?

At 2 minutes, you will see a woman named Shannon standing in the anointing. Hear Todd saying that anybody that steps into it, gets it! At 2:55 the most evil laugh you have ever heard comes out of Todd. “Sometimes the angels get involved,” says Todd. (The angels who are involved in this are not the kind that everyone thinks.)
Back to the Holy Spirit Possession video of Stacey Campbell – using Vine’s dictionary and Bible verses to sound very biblical as she describes her version of ecsatasy, she teaches that biblical Holy Spirit possession and ecstatic prophecy means to be ‘standing outside of,’ in a trance, in a condition in which ordinary consciousness is suspended, a spiritual state where natural sense are suspended (as in Todd Bentley astral travelling to England?). But it is more than just floating in suspension – it is FRENZY, she says, not peaceful. Is this what the Bible teaches about life in the Spirit?

And who can forget her ecstatic head shaking prophecy over Todd Bentley last week? Does this sound or look like peace and self control, which is the fruit of the Holy Spirit?
There is something else very telling that Stacy Campbell mentions in her Holy Spirit Possession teaching – she talks about Evelyn Underhill at about 4:22. This is no small matter. Evelyn Underhill was a mystic who had occultic connections…
The Order of the Golden Dawn, a secret society headed by A.E.Waite, best known for the Waite Tarot Deck. Its members variously included poet W.B. Yeats (known for his poem, “The Second Coming”) and Evelyn Underhill, author of Mysticism.

While it is true to say that there is not an exact parallel between classical mysticism and specifically charismatic movements — in the sense that all mystics have not necessarily exhibited the charismata — there are many startling congruences which are worthy of exposure.
Pentecostalism and the Charismatic Movements are in so many ways a manifestation of the mysticism which has been developed in the Roman Catholic Church…

When you hear that people in the signs and wonders/prophetic/charismatic movement have been studying and quoting from mystics who experienced ecstasy and strange experiences, look out!
Another one in this category who teaches in the ecstatic realm is Patricia King and her Ekstasis Worship. There was also a Spanish mystic from the past who experienced ecstasy – Saint Teresa Avila (1515-1582). Many Christians being drawn into contemplative spirituality in churches today are reading her classic writings on the Seven Mansions of the Interior Castle . Some say these are related to the Seven Chakras.
This is a serious matter. These ladies seem to draw a big audience, and appear quite angelic and sweet looking from afar, but so do (she)wolves in sheeps (ewe’s) clothing. I saw Stacy Campbell on a Christian TV program once when she was much younger and never thought that she would end up so far off the mark. Somewhere in her walk she stepped over the line and had her first taste of spiritual ecstasy and got addicted. Was it by studying the mystics? Now she is handing this toxic spiritual drug out to others. (Does that makes her an ecstasy dealer?) Has Stacy Campbell, in the name of the Holy Spirit, given herself over to the very thing that gave her the heeby jeebies watching in Thailand? What is this strange manifestation we see when in Lakeland as people are told by Todd Bentley to step over a line into a portal zone and shake and vibrate? What is this we see as Stacy Campbell prophesies over Todd Bentley in the name of Jesus – is this Holy Spirit possession, as she says? Or is this demon possession? Is this Holy Spirit revival in Florida about worshipping Jesus, or is it really about ecstatic frenzied demon worship in disguise?
It’s really time to wake up, sheep, and draw that line in the sand. And then, stay far away from “it”!!!

FOLLOWING reports of a boy coming back from the dead, News Letter reporter Sam McBride visted the church where, for five weeks, people have been flocking to be healed.
Within minutes of arriving at the Elim Christian Centre in Tigers Bay, the young man beside me is moving his body in a series of bizarre, jerking movements.
On stage, a Canadian man wearing a rugby top is talking into a hand-held microphone before jabbing his finger at the foreheads of two teenage girls who fall over backwards before writhing on the ground.
All the while the congregation is baying for more, arms raised, shouting words of encouragement, their cries of support interspersed with seemingly random bursts of hysterical laughter.
The Canadian on stage is Bobby Sullivan, a close associate of American tele-evangelist Todd Bentley – the man behind the “Florida Outpouring” healing phenomenon….

Flocking to the Modern Golden Calf

“In Exodus 32:3 we see that when Christians seek false gods, there will always be someone who will help them do just that. Todd Bently presents his god as one that tells him to kick senior citizens in the face, or to tackle and choke, punch, beat crippled legs upon the ground, or do leg drops on Christians to heal and bless them. The word goes on in 2 John verse 10 and 11 to say, “If someone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not welcome or accept that person into your house. If you welcome such a person, you share in the evil work”. And yet so many flock to these false teacher and preachers to be entertained, and to have an experience. They have grown tired waiting upon the Lord, they have run off to pursue other gods, to find their own way.”

Outpourings from the mouths of the Florida sheep
There have been many comments left on this blog. Most of them are supportive and are made by discerning sheep who know their true Shepherd. Others are supportive of the person who has brought the revival to Florida. Todd Bentley has only lifted up the name of Jesus and prayed for people’s healings. And guess what, they have been healed in Jesus name! Is this how a humble servant of the Lord operates under the power of the Holy Spirit? Do those who shepherd and feed the flock speak like this? Do they ‘mess around with’ the sheep, bam them, kick them, knee them in the stomach and head butt them? Todd Bentley does.

Think about this for a moment, and then think about what Todd Bentley said to the girl in the “Blah Blah” clip. He wasn’t done “messin’ around with her yet.” Is the Holy Spirit violent? Does He ‘mess around’ with us? Or does he gently woo us, guide us, teach us, comfort us, and lead us into all truth (as He is the Spirit of truth)?

This 6 minute youtube video by Let Us Reason contains clips comparing the spiritual manifestations of other religions and the new false revivals taking place inside the church. Watch as Todd Bentley, Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, and other false teachers mock God and spread their doctrines of demons to the innocent and unwary.
Watching this video certainly makes it obvious, doesn’t it? I’ve seen many of those clips on other videos, but to see them all together is very effective and disturbing. There can no longer be any doubt that this is the same kundalini serpent power seeking and finding willing vessels to manifest.

Since reading this article I have sent off several e-mails to various “gurus” and New Age sites describing the activity at Toronto and Pensacola and asking their opinions of them and did they think these could be spontaneous Kundalini Awakenings in these folks. (…)
The above article tells me that what used to take years (I know from experience) now is being “granted” immediately to those not even following the yogic path. These occult folks view this as indicative of a LARGER PURPOSE AT WORK. What and/or whose purpose?
The only answer is the larger purpose is that of Satan and his hosts of seducing and deceiving spirits. Their purpose is to dupe well-meaning Christians via demonic manifestations masquerading as the “work of the Spirit.”
My brothers and sisters there is a GLOBAL DEMONIC DECEPTION being perpatrated on 100,000’s of charismatic Christians. Almost all the Charismatic leaders endorse these manifestations as a true move of the Holy Spirit.

It may be of interest to note that in a recent interview (see here @13:20), Todd Bentley referred to his salvation experience as his “awakening” or “enlightening.” He says that he got saved because he had an “experience” with God. Was this a Kundalini awakening? How many times have we seen him vibrating and shaking, and spreading it to those he touches? Haven’t we seen enough of this mockery?

In the video from two nights ago (May 26), John Arnott is talking about angel visitations with Todd Bentley…the two angels of revival with packs on their backs that want to go do some tracking of their own and go back to revisit all the same locations touched by Rodney Howard Browne where the blessings were poured out. On the video there is much talk between Arnott and Bentley about angels and revisitations but nothing about Jesus, just releasing and receiving the wind and rain, but no Jesus. Prophecy to the wind, prophecy to the rain, prophecy to the water, says Todd…awaken those revival mantles.
But no Jesus.
No Scripture.
No gospel.
No cross.
No repentance.
No meat.
Not even milk.
Just Todd shouting at the camera… “Come on God, DO IT again! Light up the network, fire fire fire fire, this is your hour of visitation!”
