Not Laughing Now
by Phil Johnson
Rodney Howard-Browne, self-styled “Holy Ghost Bartender,” has taken notice of the Strange Fire conference sponsored by Grace to You (October 16-18, 2013). He seems unnerved by the prospect that twenty-first-century charismatic phenomena are going to be examined in light of Scripture. Howard-Browne’s trademark giddiness has gone missing. Recently, he wrote this stream-of-consciousness rant on his Facebook page:
There is coming a massive attack on the Pentecostal/ Charismatic movement by a group of individuals that don’t believe in the power of the Holy Spirit today – these men do not believe in speaking in tongues or the gifts of the spirit – they think that because of excesses in the church that they have a right to write off the fastest growing sector of Christianity – over 800 million in the earth today…

Recently Todd Bentley defended the Florida outpouring by saying that a Bible scholar has backed him (see Todd Bentley Responds to Criticism). Many people who defend the Lakeland Revival are referring to the endorsement by Gary S. Greig.
In a new detailed article about this Jacob Prasch of Moriel Ministries concludes:
“Lakeland is not biblically charismatic, not biblically Pentecostal, and not biblically Christian. Neither is Gary S. Greig’s “scholarly” defense of what cannot be either biblically or even rationally defended.”
Read the entire review of Gary Greig’s defense of Lakeland and Todd Bentley as Jacob Prasch takes a closer look, here:
A Review Of Gary S Greig’s Pseudo-Scholarly Apologetic For The Unbiblical Antics Of Todd Bentley And The Lakeland, Florida Sequel To The Failed Revivals Of Kansas City, Toronto, And Pensacola
by J. Jacob Prasch

Jacob Prasch, is the author of several books and holds a non-cessationist pneumatology. He believes in the ongoing operation of charismatic gifts as defined and practiced biblically, but firmly rejects the alleged “revivals” of Lakeland, Toronto, Brownsville, and Pensacola as carnal and demonically-influenced counterfeits of biblical charismata.
I have included the above information about Jacob Prasch because of the many comments I have read here and on other blogs by defenders of this revival saying that those ‘criticizing’ the Florida outpouring are all spiritually dead cessationists. Please read the article if you believe that Gary Greigs endorsement is a legitimate reason to be a follower of this (so called) outpouring.
The following quotes from an Elijah List article help to trace the trail of the transferable impartation that started 20 years ago and leads straight to Lakeland, Florida, and beyond…
“The story of this current outpouring can actually be traced back 20 years ago to an obscure Bible College teacher in South Africa who felt called of God to surrender his life to become a missionary to America. His name was Rodney Howard-Browne.
…in 1993, there was a certain burned-out Vineyard pastor in St. Louis, Missouri, who had, himself, seen seasons of visitation and healing in his past; he was so hungry to experience it again, that he chased Rodney Howard-Browne down and attended some meetings he was holding in Tulsa, Oklahoma. That man was Randy Clark. By his own admission, he tells about how he got into the prayer line for “impartation” five times in one night just because he was so hungry for more of God and His power in his life.
…Randy has gone on since then to build an international, apostolic ministry that is touching nations with healing and impartation of revival fire.
Not long after that, another hungry Vineyard pastor named John Arnott heard of what had happened in Randy’s life and invited him to come and do four nights of meetings at his church in Toronto, Canada, in the cold and snowy January of 1994. What happened next certainly changed my mind about the impartation and transferability of anointings and mantles. But way beyond that, it has had major impact on the Church worldwide. The impact felt from the visitation of God that occurred at the Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship is with us to this day, and there is much we can learn from it.
The Toronto meetings grew from hundreds to thousands, and the fire spread. Healings and miracles were taking place, and people continued to be powerfully touched by the love of God and His presence. This truly was an impartable and contagious anointing. Smaller version of the same outpouring began to occur in churches all over the wolrd. One such place was an Anglican church in England called Holy Trinity — Brompton.
Through the mid to late 90’s there were revival “hotspots” burning all over the world, the most prominent of which was the “Toronto Blessing” and the “Brownsville Revival” in Pensacola, Florida.
After her week of power encounter, Heidi Baker returned to the mission field with a fresh empowerment from the Holy Spirit…
Another minister who was powerfully touched by the Toronto Revival was a woman who already had an effective ministry in Western Canada during that time. As a prophetic visionary and effective author and teacher, she took what she received and began to train people to experience their own ongoing personal revival through her “Glory Schools” and other seminars and materials. Her name was Patricia King.
Patricia became a “carrier” of the “renewal anointing” and took it back to her spheres of ministry in western Canada. It was there, during the late 90’s, that she was in a meeting where she prophetically identified and called out a young man named Todd Bentley to launch out into an evangelistic ministry, and prophetically “commissioned” him into a ministry of signs, wonders and miracles.
Todd grabbed the mantle and ran with it…
… As exciting as it is that there is a portal of open heavens occurring in Lakeland, Florida, even more exciting is the fact that it is contagious and transferable and available wherever hungry believers are crying out for more of God’s revelation, power and presence.”

This brings us up to date (from the Freshfire website) to the latest chapter in the story:
“Daily impartation is slated for all senior leaders and all those who serve in the revival meetings. As well, every Friday night we also have a special impartation and anointing service for everyone. However, if the Lord leads, we may lay hands on everyone during the weekly meetings several times, too. We believe this anointing is to go to the world.” – A Personal Message from Todd, (from Lakeland) May 20, 2008, Freshfire Ministries main page, http://www.freshfire.ca/)
But what does the Bible teach about an anointing that is transferable, impartable, and contagious?
A ‘transferable anointing’ is not seen nor practiced anywhere in Scripture. We also find that the Apostles did not rush around laying hands on people to impart an experience of ‘fire’ or power. They did not chant words over and over and expect a immediate response. The impartations done today that come through certain men are not the true anointing, who is the Spirit of God. Only God can give the Spirit; Jesus is the baptizer of the Holy Spirit, not man. Man cannot control God- there is no teaching on how to obtain or release the anointing to another.”

Here is a MUST SEE video:
The False Revival (comparison)
This 6 minute youtube video by Let Us Reason contains clips comparing the spiritual manifestations of other religions and the new false revivals taking place inside the church. Watch as Todd Bentley, Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, and other false teachers mock God and spread their doctrines of demons to the innocent and unwary.
Watching this video certainly makes it obvious, doesn’t it? I’ve seen many of those clips on other videos, but to see them all together is very effective and disturbing. There can no longer be any doubt that this is the same kundalini serpent power seeking and finding willing vessels to manifest.
Here is a good article on this subject:
Here is a DIRECT QUOTE from a Kundalini Page on the web (caps are my addition):
“Usually the awakening of Kundalini was a process which only occurred after years of spiritual practice and meditation. Yet INCREASINGLY, the Kundalini experience is being reported among people who are not undertaking spiritual practices. Since 1993, when Shared Transformation, an American journal for connecting spiritual awakeners first began, it has been contacted by OVER 700 people in the throes of SPONTANEOUS KUNDALINI AROUSAL (Collie & Kree, 1995). These INCREASED reports of spontaneous Kundalini awakening at this time of PLANETARY UPHEAVAL may be INDICATIVE OF A LARGER PURPOSE AS WORK, the beginning of a planetary wake up call…”
Since reading this article I have sent off several e-mails to various “gurus” and New Age sites describing the activity at Toronto and Pensacola and asking their opinions of them and did they think these could be spontaneous Kundalini Awakenings in these folks. (…)
The above article tells me that what used to take years (I know from experience) now is being “granted” immediately to those not even following the yogic path. These occult folks view this as indicative of a LARGER PURPOSE AT WORK. What and/or whose purpose?
The only answer is the larger purpose is that of Satan and his hosts of seducing and deceiving spirits. Their purpose is to dupe well-meaning Christians via demonic manifestations masquerading as the “work of the Spirit.”
My brothers and sisters there is a GLOBAL DEMONIC DECEPTION being perpatrated on 100,000’s of charismatic Christians. Almost all the Charismatic leaders endorse these manifestations as a true move of the Holy Spirit.

Florida Revival – is there a Kundalini connection?
(has Todd Bentley awakened to kundalini serpent power?)
It may be of interest to note that in a recent interview (see here @13:20), Todd Bentley referred to his salvation experience as his “awakening” or “enlightening.” He says that he got saved because he had an “experience” with God. Was this a Kundalini awakening? How many times have we seen him vibrating and shaking, and spreading it to those he touches? Haven’t we seen enough of this mockery?
Sheep! Wake up and smell the rotten fruit!

They also have some exclusive interviews…
…and with Patricia King here:
They are even linking to Extreme Prophetic, Global Awakening (Randy Clark), Ignited Church, Fresh Fire Ministries, and God TV.
Does CBN know about the rotten fruit left behind on the laughing revival trail that Randy Clark was a part of? Do they know about the supernatural conversation that Patricia King and Todd Bentley had with Bob Jones about their out of body/astral projection experiences into the third heaven together and the vanilla smell of the anointing?
Whether knowingly or unknowingly, as they promote Clark, King and Bentley and their ministries, it’s sad to see that CBN is condoning and spreading this growing deception.

Jacob Prasch of Moriel Ministries is also now tracking this revival and has sent this out in his latest newsletter…
Lakeland – Just Another Counterfeit Revival
Just another lie, another deception, and another false move of God. Just one more false revival
It is just more of the same old ridiculous, unscriptural, carnal, and demonically inspired junk that will not and cannot bring true biblical & historical revival, but can be used to help prevent it.
In the character of other counterfeit moves of God that produced no promised revival, the latest lie is from Lakeland, Florida – after the failed promised revivals of Kansas City, Toronto, and Pensacola.
It is more of the same unbiblical doctrine and contra-scriptural practices, manipulation, carnality, demonic influences, counterfeit spirituality, and just plain stupidity in the groove of The Kansas City False Prophets (Mike Bickle, the drunken homosexual Paul Cain, and the sexually immoral Bob Jones), the Toronto Experience (John Arnot, influenced by Rodney Howard Brown via Randy Clark), its American clone, the Pensacola fiasco (John Kilpatrick, Steve Hill), and West Africa’s TB Joshua.
No revival came from any of this lunacy, and true revival will not come from Lakeland either for the same reasons – it is not scriptural and not of God….

John Arnott tracks the Lakeland Revival wave back to the laughing revival released by Rodney Howard Browne
There are some more tracks on the Florida trail this week. John Arnott has come down to bless this revival which he says originally started with the laughing revival of Rodney Howard Browne…you can read about that here:
John Arnott of the Toronto Blessing blesses Todd Bentley at Lakeland
But is this true revival or apostasy?
Who can forget the mockery called the Toronto so called ‘blessing’?
This is revival? Watch this Toronto Blessing video:
Is this laughter Holy? Is a laughing revival supported anywhere in scripture? Or does true revival always come with weeping and repentance?

The Toronto ‘Blessing’ and Brownsville ‘Revival’..
Move of God or demonic deception?
In the video from two nights ago (May 26), John Arnott is talking about angel visitations with Todd Bentley…the two angels of revival with packs on their backs that want to go do some tracking of their own and go back to revisit all the same locations touched by Rodney Howard Browne where the blessings were poured out. On the video there is much talk between Arnott and Bentley about angels and revisitations but nothing about Jesus, just releasing and receiving the wind and rain, but no Jesus. Prophecy to the wind, prophecy to the rain, prophecy to the water, says Todd…awaken those revival mantles.
But no Jesus.
Not even milk.
Just Todd shouting at the camera… “Come on God, DO IT again! Light up the network, fire fire fire fire, this is your hour of visitation!”
Lord Jesus, have mercy!
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom. James 4: 8,9
Be of sober spirit, be on the alert Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8
Thar’s gold in them thar revivals…
Gold is nothing new to Todd Bentley’s ministry. As we follow the tracks on the gold trail, the first gold report begins in his home province of British Columbia, Canada:
Gold Fillings: 1999
Gold teeth hard to prove, useful for outreach
• BC Christian News • MAY ISSUE 1999 • VOL. 19 #5 • Formerly “Christian Info News”
By Peter T. Chattaway
THE GREAT Physician may also be the Great Dentist. In the past two months, several dozen people have reported receiving gold fillings and similar miracles at churches and revival meetings throughout British Columbia.
“They were having people come up to be prayed for,” recalls Dorothy McKee, who says she received four gold teeth at the Mission Foursquare Church March 21. “My husband was checking people as they went up to the front, and he looked in my mouth, and voilˆ, I already had them.”
Dental miracles have been reported around the world, most recently in Argentina, at various times over the years. The first instance of miraculous fillings in Canada took place March 3 at the Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship. Within a week, over 300 people claimed to have received dental miracles there.
It took only a couple of weeks for churches in Langley and Mission to follow suit. Nine people reported receiving dental miracles at the Langley Vineyard’s March 20 service; the next night, seven people reportedly received the same during Todd Bentley’s revival service at Mission Foursquare Church. And the reports keep coming in.
“We’ve had between 45 and 50 people who’ve reported some kind of dental miracles in their mouths,” says Langley Vineyard pastor Jesse Padgett. Of those, he estimates about 15 to 20 have gone to the dentist for confirmation.
Bentley, an Abbotsford-based evangelist, says the Mission meeting marked the first time gold teeth have appeared at any of his meetings. “Since then it’s appeared in almost every meeting that I’ve done,” he says, citing his recent trips to Mackenzie, Prince George and Portland, Oregon.
The Gold Trail continues…
Gold dust 2007:
SUPERNATURAL DISPLAY IN GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT
After shopping at a grocery store and prophesying accurately over the cashier, two of our interns began to put their groceries away into their vehicle when they sensed the Holy Spirit wanted them to minister to a woman in the parking lot. They began to tell her about the reality of the supernatural realm, about how they have seen gems from heaven, gold dust, diamond dust, and many other manifestations of the kingdom. Right then and there she started to get covered by it herself! Within a minute her whole body had oil, diamond dust, gold dust, sapphire dust, and silver dust coming on her, and within two minutes she was a sign and a wonder! She said she would be coming to their church the following Sunday!
-Todd Bentley, Foundation of the Glory Part 1
Gold Teeth through the internet 2008:
God is now giving gold teeth to people through the internet. It’s a sign, says Todd.
Question: If God creates new eyeballs, back bones, neck bones and kidneys, as the people at Todd Bentley’s miracle crusades claim, then why wouldn’t he create new teeth? Why would the Creator of the universe need to use gold?
Meanwhile, as Todd Bentley’s contagious gold fever is spreading, so is the gold talk. Let’s follow the trail:
(HOT) Golden Living Stones 2008:
Prophetic word for Albany and Medford by Rob DeLuca
I had a vision of you while Todd Bentley was praying for you at the meetings in Lakeland, when we were up on the platform together.
I saw a vision of this whirlwind of fire–trailblazing across Oregon, and it was burning up forest trees and the fire was spreading and it was getting larger and larger and it began to consume towns and cities–all across the State of Oregon.
As I watched, I also saw that it began to pull “golden stones” (people) out of the ground–they were alive. As these came out of the ground, they swirled within this whirlwind of fire and they were full of life. I saw these golden stones begin to shine really bright and then they were flung out all over the nation of America. Hot, golden living stones.
The Lord is showing me that what is taking place with you and your ministry, Denny (based in Albany, Oregon), is going to set Oregon on fire.
The Lord is also showing me a city–Medford, Oregon. The reason I know of this city is because my parents used to live there. I also saw that this fire touched Medford in a great way. The wind is blowing and the fire is burning and watch out Oregon, here it comes! Many people will be sent out from Oregon–golden stones to touch the nation.
Let’s stay in touch. God bless you man.
His Way Church in New Zealand
Will gold dust and gold teeth be showing up in Oregon as the fever spreads? It’s already showing up in the Dudley outpouring. More gold on the trail here…
Glory flakes gold dust appears at Revival Fire’s Dudley Outpouring
The Golden Earring Prophecy by Bob Jones
Golden earrings? Wait a minute. Isn’t that what the children of Israel used to make a molten gold calf? (Exodus 32)
The fact is that gold dust lust generally draws people away from God and leads them into sin (see Pentecostal ministers caught out faking word of knowledge prophecy & healing). And what of the 300 people who received Gold Teeth Miracles in Toronto? Did this turn the world upside down and bring revival? The apostles did not need to use gold or gimmicks as a means to spread the gospel (in fact Peter said, “Silver and gold have I none”).
Sadly, here is where the fools gold trail ends:
False Miracles by False Prophets
All That Glitters. . .
Gold Fillings and Truth Decay Toronto
Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. Proverbs 8:10
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22,23
“…I remember having clambered onto a pew, where I lay laughing and shaking uncontrollably. Once again, someone came up to me and repeated the now very familiar words, “Give her more, Lord, give her more!” Whereupon, I fell off the pew and onto the floor, where I lay uncomfortably wedged between my own pew and the one in front, having uncontrollable hysterics yet again.” -Sally Richardson
