Charismatic Gold Phenomena

Isn’t it interesting that gold seems to follow charismatic ‘revivals’ and their leaders? The following quote is from Todd Bentley:

“She (Emma) glided into the room, emitting brilliant light and colors. Emma carried these bags and began pulling gold out of them. Then, as she walked up and down the aisles of the church, she began putting gold dust on people. “God, what is happening?” I asked. The Lord answered: “She is releasing the gold, which is both the revelation and the financial breakthrough that I am bringing into this church. I want you to prophecy that Emma showed up in this service-the same angel that appeared in Kansas city-as a sign that I am endorsing and releasing a prophetic spirit in the church.”

Here are some more excerpts regarding gold dust and gold teeth from Apologetics Index::

Diamond dust manifestations of God’s presence have appeared in meetings led by Evangelists Todd Bentley in Canada and Ian Turton in Australia. There have been other places where they have appeared also, but it seems that they are not as commonplace as the gold dust and gold dental miracles. According to Todd, they look like fine sparkly ” ground glass”, reflecting light in beautiful colors.

After worship and after some people having experiencing a mist and a dew Gold dust began to appear on evangelist Todd Bentleys hands. “Look, theres gold” he shouted.

Soon others began to see gold on there hands and faces.

It wasn’t long and he began to pray for people who needed fillings. Seven people received Gold teeth last night.

One lady was standing at the front and while waiting to be prayed for received five gold teeth in a row. Not just filled, but buldging with Gold.

It’s not just gold that is appearing…as you can see, there is oil and gems as well. You can watch various videos about Todd Bentley & friends, oil of anointing and Gold Teeth here:

But the most bizarre video of them all has to be Patricia King on gold dust:

Sapphire Dust and Oil From Heaven!

What is all this about? Does God sprinkle gold on us to show us He loves us? Are gold fillings and gold dust a sign and wonder from God? What about hands dripping with oil? Is that any different from the stigmata or tears dripping from statues which Catholics flock to?

The following is an excerpt from an article (from intotruth.org) about the significance of gold in the spiritual realm…

Alchemy

The most significant meaning for gold is of course in the realm of alchemy, and most people know that the aim of alchemy was to transmute base metals into gold. Although this was actually attempted as a chemical process, the real meaning behind alchemy was a spiritual transformation of flesh into divinity.

Swiss psychologist Carl Jung (1875-1961) wrote some of his major works on alchemy, putting forward a psychological interpretation. He saw it as a method of self transformation whereby the alchemist unites the opposite elements within himself (e.g., male/female; conscious/unconscious) and attains completeness as a human being. To mystics and occultists alchemy is a spiritual discipline, whereby a person transmutes the base elements of the personality into “spiritual gold”. To the Adept this is a powerful process of transformation that unlocks the keys of magical power and of immortality.

[…]

It is the goal of the New Age to lift mankind into a new vibration, to awaken people to “christ-consciousness” within; this involves a luciferic initiation in which the mind is changed from the old paradigm to the new one and the enlightened one then sees mankind as one united entity joined to a living planet that must evolve into a higher spiritual dimension.

Those who undergo the transformation understand that they have divine capabilities and begin to train themselves to use their new-found powers. Eventually they believe they will transform the planet itself, and become spiritual beings ruling on a higher plane.

All this is symbolised by the GOLD of the highest spiritual attainment. A disciple of the new age would have no difficulty in interpreting the recent events in churches!

[…]

PROGRESSIVE ERROR

Finally, what is the danger to ordinary Christians in these signs and wonders? It is that, once you show willing to accept these things, your mind will open to ever more bizarre occurrences and lead you into paths that you would otherwise have shunned.

Nobody is led astray all at once. Satan knows that no Christian or church-goer would accept a talking statue, fire from heaven or a counterfeit christ without mental preparation. First the nursery slopes.

But now that so many in the Church have been warned “don’t analyse”, “simply accept” and “you must not put God in a box” they are willing to accept ANYTHING, however nonsensical.

They are not worried if a blue cloud hovers in the meeting-room, or if a woman shakes gold dust out of her hair. They gaze in wonder if oil drips from somebody’s hands, (and presumably would be just as awestruck by the kind of visible stigmata that Catholics have long known about?)…

Sound familiar? Please read the complete article here:

Gold Dust and Gold Teeth
http://intotruth.org/tb/gold.html

Also at this website is a related article called Marian Apparitions and Gold – Identical Signs (http://intotruth.org/tb/marygold.htm) which links reports of Catholic apparitions to the gold dust and fillings seen in today’s charismatic revival meetings:

“These reports only serve to prove that objects transformed to gold (whether rosaries or teeth!), and gold dust sprinklings are no new phenomenon and are not as uncommon as charismatics like to think. Furthermore, the most usual place to witness these “miracles” is at a Marian Shrine.”

This makes one wonder if there is any relationship between Todd Bentley’s gold dust/teeth phenomena and the Catholic charismatic mass and home group he attended as a new believer. Whether it has something to do with Catholicism, the New Age, occultic initiation, or just a hoax, there is no doubt that this phenomena is not from God and is something to be very careful of.

Well this morning in a devotional bible study for the homeless and the ministry team at my church, one of the leaders gave a testimony about praying for this gold dust to happen to him, after a blinding light hit him and when it was gone he looked down on the floor and there was a gold nugget with a diomand in the center laying on the floor, he said that he had it analized and they said it was real and asked if he wanted to sell it he said no that it was a gift from god, i sent an email to my pastor who wasnt there he was at a golf tournament to raise money for the ministry , i got a phone call rebuking me for sending out an email about this issue true i know know i should have confronted this man first , i am now to apolagize for this to this manb who promoted this gold nugget experience ,because he does love jesus.I never questioned his love for jesus just needed to understand what that testimony had to do with the bible and the cross.I am so alone in this fight for truth in my church at least it seems that way being rebuked by the main pastor i submit to his authority yet i dont agree with this gold dust movement and i think in devotion time it shouldnt be promoted rather our devotion should have been on christ i have to apologize tomorrow for the email i sent to my pastor about this leader i will do that but i wont agree on anything save jesus christ and him crucified.thank you i truly do feel alone

    Hello Calvin,

You are right in your judgment. I pray that all went well. When situations like this arise, it would be quite appropriate to apologize in the fashion of Anne Shirley (to Rachel Lynde).

ANNE: Mrs. Lynde, I’m extremely sorry I behaved so terribly. I’ve disgraced my good friends who’ve let me stay at Green Gables on trial, even though I’m not a boy. I am wicked and ungrateful, and I deserve to be cast out forever. What you said was true; I am skinny and ugly, and my hair is red. What I said about you was true too, only I shouldn’t have said it. Please, Mrs. Lynde, forgive me. You wouldn’t be so cruel as to inflict a life-long sorrow on a poor orphan. Please. Please, forgive me.

-Part 2 Anne of Green Gables
    http://greengables-1.tripod.com/script/1part2.html

In other words, apologize for hurting anyone’s feelings, and admit you are not better than anyone else, but that you still believe that you have discerned correctly by the Word of God that the gold was not from God, and you stand by your decision, even though you love your pastor, and don’t doubt or judge anyone’s salvation or motives.

Calvin, don’t shrink back. The Lord is on your side. This gold phenomena is nothing but utter nonsense that cannot be backed up by one iota of Scripture anywhere in the Bible.

And most importantly, pray for your pastor.

  4. Great article… very happy to find other like minded believers with a love for the truth.

Just recently, I joined a church which over a period of less than a year moved from being an NCMI church to breaking away from leadership altogether because they believed it restricted God from moving and then started aligning with these charismatic “new apostolic” crowd, invited speaker after speaker from the States to come and hold conferences, and exactly like you said, it went from some small doctrinal errors, to longer worship times, to chanting, to mystical experiences like searching for angels, and then the gold dust, gemstones, oil etc arrived, and then even the stigmata… in the space of less than a year the whole congregation went from a reasonably conservative fundamentalist church to charismatic chaos. The last straw form me was when I saw people crawling around the floor in the bathroom looking for “gifts from God”, and potentially even some demonic possession with one lady saying she was taken down to hell in a vision, the screaming was horrible.

We stayed for perhaps a bit longer than we should have, the whole process was very difficult because we had and still have some very good friends there. I was on my journey back to getting close to God after a long time away, and was a bit scared to “question anything” given we were taught to accept anything and everything and not question because we could “blaspheme against the Holy Spirit. Well… My dad invited me to a Chuck Missler conference, and I started getting into some serious Bible study, and quickly realised how dangerous this all was, and how easily we were all deceived, and like you said, it didn’t happen all at once, but over time, just a little by little, and then when we look back we gasp to think, now did it all happen and catch us so unaware?

We met with the Elders to discuss our concerns and they were upset that we were questioning things… and even admitted themselves that they didn’t understand much of it, or know much about the speakers that they had invited, but that we should “not put God in a box”. Only later on did I find out that some years ago the leader had been reprimanded by NCMI in his old ministry for trying to start a cult in the late 80’s.

What’s most upsetting is that even our friends won’t give due diligence to the truth… and I now understand that the truth can only be revealed to a person by reading the Word and asking God to reveal it through his Holy Spirit. As the Bible says, there will be people in our times who walk after their own desires, heaping up teachers to tell them exactly what they want to hear… its frightening what a mess the global ecumenical movement is in!!!

    God bless you.

i did go and apologize to the man..even broken that i had hurt him…..i have stopped attending the ministry as a city wide prayer room has been opened up..not 24-7…when one day i went in to pray there…in the foyer before walking into the main prayer sanctuary..i saw a table with fliers on it ..upon reading the flier i saw that..the gold nugget man and another speaker where being aloud to hold a meeting there…it was something about discoverying your destiny in god…at the bottom it read..personal prophecy given after the conferense…when i asked my pastor where he got the idea for the prayer room he said..”i went to kansas city..and god spoke to me there to open a city prayer room here” immediatly in my mind alarms went off as i allready learned of mike bickle and the kansas city prophets and his i.h.o.p. “vision”…….when i apologized to my pastor he said “i used to ne like you” how can this be..a ministry once having true genuine repentence and conversion preaching..given over to such in my opinion abominations….i have since sent a letter to my mothers hurch pastor asking him what he thought of the whole gold dust movement and in specific..I.H.O.P i shake as i im writing this as i fear that i will be attacked by many leaders in this city for even speaking out in any way..i.e.. letter to my moms pastor..he knows my pastor on a personal level..i know this will get back to him and so be it…..each summer youth from around our are come for a week..even from other states..to serve the homeless here…they will be sleeping in the prayer room…what will they be tought…will they be exposed to false prophecys and spirits of demons…much good work is done at this ministry..feeding the homeless..clothing the homeless as well as the poor needing food..all good works…but where is the discernment or am i being overcritical…i remember years ago i went to a walk to emmaus where my pastor was the leader leading the walk those three days…there was a whole lot of catholic prayers prayed in the times we all gathered to pray…and at the end the last night we walked into the same chapel we would go to pray and..about 200 people opr so where there the room was dark except for everyone had andles singing a song over and over..it made me uneasy..but i lied to my pastor later that week when he asked me how was it so i told him it was awesome..for fear..of what he might have said if i told him… i have gone from churh to church seeking truth ..one church that appealed to drug addicts here in town i went to had a free at last siminar and all that was really tought there in that siminar was testing us wether we had flanguin personality or such and such personality..the teacher even made excuses for benny hinns sin by saying he had such and such personality…i had a dream later that the pastor rolled me into his office and when he opened the dorr to his office..there was these men in black hoods holding candles..i in this dream said no and shut the door..when i did the room i was standing in was filled with people praying against what was going on in that pastors office…….i know i have said much here but i am broken and fearfull that i will be labeled judgmental …but someone has to say something ..someone has to sound the alarm….its everywhere ..i do attend a local body and as thus far sound biblical teaching is all i have heard…one thing god has taught me through all this is that these are deceptive days and my trust is in him alone…i know there are other voies crying out in the wilderness than just mine…who have in heaven oh lord but thee who have i on earth oh god but thee

  8. Jesus Christ warned about lying signs and wonders, and that is what dominates the world of charismania. The truth is very simple and pure. But, there are those … plenty … who warp the message of the Bible. We are watching the great falling away, the great apostasy that Paul warned about. There are so many micro doctrines that have become major doctrines at the expense of the integrity of sound creeds that affirm the Good News.

  9. A faithful Servant

Hi, great report… The thing that caught my attention was that Satan doesn’t blast us with false doctrine right off the bat. He prepares us to receive it. When we shut ourselves off from sound biblical doctrine and the checks from the Holy Spirit, we set ourselves up for serious deception. Also, can Satan heal? I would like to ask if there is a new website for intotruth.org since the links don’t work for me. Thanks! May God bless your efforts here and through this may He reach many with the real truth of His gospel message.
