Todd Bentley’s Angels

These are a few of the angels that Todd Bentley claims to have seen:

Todd Bentley and the Angel of Revelation 10:

Here you can hear about Todd Bentley’s hallucination while in Seattle of being beamed up (abducted?) through a pillar of fire “portal” to an operating table in heaven with two angels on either side of the table, they saw him in half, his guts pop out, and they stuff him with boxes. Then all his friends go back to the hotel and get caught up into visions (such as skiing on the mountain of the Lord, being consumed by fire, etc.). Then the angel comes in the hotel room and everyone smelled the smoke, which eventually led to the two hotel rooms above them literally burning down a few hours later. Now nobody wants to take a room near Todd Bentley’s room. Todd says it was the angel in Revelation 10. Here is the link:

Todd Bentley and the Angel called Promise:
AN ANGEL CALLED PROMISE

Recently, I had an angel come to me in Kansas City. He said, “Todd, my name is Promise, and I’ve come to bring the fulfillment of God’s promises. I’ve come to bring the fulfillment of the prophetic words spoken to intercessors. I have come for those who have been like Hannah-they have prayed, waited and carried a promise in their hearts. There will come a time when God has heard and I will release the Samuel,” Be encouraged-there is an angel called promise that is involved in bringing your intercessory breakthrough. When this angel comes into my meetings people get breakthrough and answered prayers. Look at the description of this angel in Revelations 8:1-6:
{…}
On certain occasions, the angel of Promise has come into meetings where I was speaking to bring people delayed answers to prayers. In some cases, the very next day, in answer to prayers people have prayed for and waited on for years, breakthrough will come. People will get healed, financial breakthrough will come or miracles will begin to take place.

Todd Bentley and the Angel called Emma:
EMMA, ANGEL OF THE PROPHETIC

Now let me talk about an angelic experience with Emma. Twice Bob Jones asked me about this angel that was in Kansas City in 1980: “Todd, have you ever seen the angel by the name of Emma?” He asked me as if he expected that this angel was appearing to me. Surprised, I said, “Bob, who is Emma?” He told me that Emma was the angel that helped birth and start the whole prophetic movement in Kansas City in the 1980s. She was a mothering-type angel that helped nurture the prophetic as it broke out. Within a few weeks of Bob asking me about Emma, I was in a service in Beulah, North Dakota. In the middle of the service I was in conversation with Ivan and another person when in walks Emma. As I stared at the angel with open eyes, the Lord said, “Here’s Emma.” I’m not kidding. She floated a couple of inches off the floor. It was almost like Kathryn Khulman in those old videos when she wore a white dress and looked like she was gliding across the platform. Emma appeared beautiful and young-about 22 years old-but she was old at the same time. She seemed to carry the wisdom, virtue and grace of Proverbs 31 on her life.

She glided into the room, emitting brilliant light and colors. Emma carried these bags and began pulling gold out of them. Then, as she walked up and down the aisles of the church, she began putting gold dust on people. “God, what is happening?” I asked. The Lord answered: “She is releasing the gold, which is both the revelation and the financial breakthrough that I am bringing into this church. I want you to prophecy that Emma showed up in this service-the same angel that appeared in Kansas city-as a sign that I am endorsing and releasing a prophetic spirit in the church.”

Todd Bentley and the Angel that carries the “Winds of Change”:

…the second night of the Lakeland meetings…he said he saw an angel he described as carrying the “Winds of Change.”

Asking him to describe this angel, Bentley replied that those familiar with the life of William Branham would recognize the angel from being a relevant factor in his healing ministry. He felt that this angel’s appearance signaled a “shift in the atmosphere” for the meetings and felt that an openness for revival had been ushered in.

This is a new youtube clip (from Florida) where Todd Bentley talks about this angel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-nwMfOKgXo

Todd Bentley and the Angel of Finance:

In this regard, on three occasions over the past couple of years I’ve had a visitation from the Lord in which I’ve seen the angel of finance. Every time this happens (in our meetings) there is an incredible financial breakthrough—something is opened up in heaven, it invades the earth, and people respond by giving generously. And afterward many testimonies come in to Fresh Fire reporting the abundant blessings that people have received in return!

Todd Bentley and the angel that is going to visit the children:

At about 7 minutes into the following video clip, Todd Bentley (in Florida) says he saw the angel that is going to visit the children, and he’s only seen this angel two other times:
http://video.aol.com/video-detail/todd-bentley-florida-healing-revival-1/1818314898?icid=acvsv1
Note: At 4 minutes 18 seconds on this same video clip, Todd starts shaking uncontrollably…
Keep watching…at about 6 minutes he has another episode.
He prays that a drunken glory will move across the whole place…smoking glory, in all the colours, in the cloud, thick overwhelming honey glory…and then he has mini jerking ‘seizures’ and starts laughing at around 8:40 (drunk in the spirit?).

Oh parents who are at these meetings in Florida…guard your children from these angels and from this man!
Is this the manifestation of the Holy Spirit? Or could it be it the awakening of kundalini?

We must test the spirits or, as Todd Bentley says, these Angels that manifest themselves. The following is an extremely eye-opening excerpt from a book called True To His Ways regarding the danger of this particular practice of Todd Bentley:

Well-known charismatic Todd Bentley, who claims to receive frequent visitations from angels, travels widely for “Catch the Fire” events to impart occult visions in shaktipat-type practices. He writes voluminously on the topic, and has posted many articles on the Web. In one such article he writes:

So I’m asking God to release the seer anointing to you as you read this article so that you can even see the angelic hosts. Today I want to focus the teaching on the angelic realm and how you can release angels to fulfill God’s word. Recently, I had several daily visitations of angels which lasted for weeks. Since the beginning of this year I’ve also sensed an increase in the presence of angels in our meetings.[5]

Mr. Bentley visited a church in North Dakota and reportedly imparted paranormal perception to the pastor’s wife. The pastor wrote:

After that power packed evening [with Todd Bentley], Julie testified that the prophetic gifting of the Holy Spirit began to operate in a new dimension. Tuesday evening she saw the church surrounded with angels and even heard them singing with the congregation during worship![6]

While in a trance Julie both heard and saw angels, demonstrating siddhi-like powers of clairaudience and clairvoyance. Similar occult visions were reported by others at a “Catch the Fire” event in Tucson, Arizona, featuring Gary and Kathi Oates. Mr. and Mrs. Oates are reportedly so advanced in siddhi-like power that “God’s presence invaded the auditoriums each time Gary and Kathi ministered.”[7] Here is the testimony of a young woman who attended this event:

I felt the Lord was saying that we (our homegroup) should ask Him to open our eyes and our ears. I asked…then forgot all about it until Friday…in church I was so moved by the presence of the Lord that I went to the back and knelt down… sobbing. Soon, I saw an angel in the doorway blowing a cool breeze over the church and knew his job was to reawaken a hunger and recognition of the presence of the Lord. Next I saw an angel on either side of the first, and these were blowing trumpets, but I understood their message to be “Prepare the way for a Holy Lord”. I’m still so touched by the increased ability to see and hear and I want more.[8]

The angelic message in the above testimony sounds biblical and reverent. But consider the occult elements. Enchanted by a presence brought by empowered leaders, unmotivated weeping, paranormal seeing: could it be that this woman really saw and heard an angel from God? Of course not. First, it came as a result of occult practice; that alone is reason enough to reject it. But we see also that this “angel” is not teaching the Jesus of the gospel who comes through the word of truth. It teaches an occult Jesus who comes by invocation and manifest presence, and imparts siddhi-like powers. Next, angels do not awaken our hunger for God; this is the work of the Holy Spirit. And last, Scripture teaches that not only will demons pretend to worship the Lord, they can and will declare His deity, and even proclaim His work of salvation. The demon that Paul cast out of the prophetess in Philippi caused her to announce his mission as God’s servant to declare the way of salvation. Every word she spoke was true. But Paul was not pleased, and clearly discerned
the demonic source (see Acts 16:16-18). We must not be fooled by pious appearances.

The sheep who follow Todd Bentley are eating up every word that he says about angels, yet they are forgetting that the Bible has warned us about angels:

“For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministersalso transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.” 2 Cor. 14, 15

Be careful sheep! Angels (and so called shepherds) are not always what they appear to be:

“Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.” Matthew 7:15

I’ve learned to trust that feeling I got when I first heard about Todd Bentley and the LakeWood Revival. Just to see a picture of him like the one on his web site makes my insides squirm.

Well, it appears once again that the (not so) great satan is at it again. In his wonderful ability to dupe humanity, he is raoring like a lion and doing all these great and wonderful deceptive manifestations and God can do nothing. All spiritual manifestations seem to belong to satan. We can’t see heaven, we can’t see angels, we are never gonna see GOD move throughout the whole earth like the bible says. All corporate miracles and healings are all of satan, so we might as well just pack up go home and get raptured. Pfooey! Jesus said the works that He has done shall we do and GREATER than these shall we also do because HE has gone to THE FATHER. Greater than what Jesus did? WOW. If you can’t beleive in what GOD is doing in others at least please get the REAL thing for yourself.Jesus is LORD! Nick,

Bob DeWaay examines the “greater than these” issue in an article called ‘Greater Works than These’:

“If the “works” were supernatural signs such as had already been performed, what are the “greater works” of John 14:12? The modern claim is that they are greater miracles than Christ ever performed and that they will be done by apostles and prophets at the end of the church age. One problem with this interpretation is that it fails to consider the fact that the promise was given to all believers, not just supposed latter day apostles. Another problem is that not even the Biblical apostles (the ones chosen by Christ) did greater miracles than He performed. Those who witnessed Christ’s miracles said that they were greater than ever had been. For example in John 9 the healing of the blind man was considered a unique miracle: “Since the beginning of time it has never been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a person born blind” (John 9:32).”

(Nick)Well, it appears once again that the (not so) great satan is at it again. In his wonderful ability to dupe humanity, he is raoring like a lion and doing all these great and wonderful deceptive manifestations and God can do nothing. All spiritual manifestations seem to belong to satan.

(GV) WHAT spiritual manifestations from Todd have YOU seen Nick?? Have you SEEN any of these angels Todd keeps bleating about?? Did you SEE the one Todd claims was raised from the dead??

Or are you just taking the word of a guy who claims he has so much spiritual prowess that angles visit him on the regular, yet he hasn’t the spiritual fortitude to put down his knife and fork once in a while?? Is there anything you WON’T believe??

(Nick) We can’t see heaven, we can’t see angels, we are never gonna see GOD move throughout the whole earth like the bible says.

(GV) Please enlighten us as to where the Bible promises us that we can see Heaven and angels, and where the Bible says we are going to have a revival. My Bible says that apostasy is coming, and Todd is evidence that the Bible is true.

(Nick) All corporate miracles and healings are all of satan, so we might as well just pack up go home and get raptured.

(GV)God can still do corporate miracles and healings Nick. Has Todd provided any such thing there in Florida??

(Nick) Pfooey! Jesus said the works that He has done shall we do and GREATER than these shall we also do because HE has gone to THE FATHER. Greater than what Jesus did? WOW.

(GV) Yes Nick………those words were spoken to the Apostles, and they speak of ministering salvation to men. A far greater work that healing their bodies is seeing them reconciled to God.

(Nick) If you can’t beleive in what GOD is doing in others at least please get the REAL thing for yourself.

(GV) Thanks Nick……..now,when can we see some of your “greater works” as you just defined them?? Jesus healed the lame, the blind, amputees, fed thousands with almost nothing, walked on the water, and raised the dead.

Now,since you claim that you have the “real thing”, and that you are going to do “greater works” than Jesus, please tell us when you have either seen or (better yet) done these “greater works” and even beyond them yourself.

    Talk is cheap Nick.

(Nick)Jesus is LORD! For more information on what GOD is NOT doing and what GOD CAN’T do please visit http://www.everythingisofthedevil.com (joke). Jesus loves you!

(GV) Yes Nick, Jesus IS Lord, and there ARE things God can’t do BTW (Lie,for example).

Now, we are waiting for you to validate your theology with evidence.

1Cr 2:4 And my speech and my preaching [was] not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:

We’ve heard a lot of speech from you Nick……..bring on the power. A simple raising of the dead will do, or restoring an amputated limb if you’re too tired to raise the dead.

Actually, you have to do better than that. You said you were promised that you would do GREATER works than Jesus.Maybe raise an amputee from the dead as you walk on water while getting a coin from the mouth of a fish or something??

So many natter on about how they are going to do greater works, but they never seem to be able to actually DO it. I wonder why that is??

After all,you claimed that Jesus PROMISED you that you would do those “greater works”.

AlL I can say is that since Mr. Bentley says this is going to go worldwide (which I’m sure it will) then the tribulation is closer than we realize. Seeing this man in action is disgusting to say the least. The yelling into the mic, the squirming and shaking, the satanic laughter…..what in the world would a non-believer see in that that would make he/she want to come to the Lord??? Come Lord Jesus!!!!!

Todd B., is just one in a long line of past, present and future fakirs who finds it very profitable to merchandise the sheep since the sheep seemingly refuse to read their Bibles and
develop their ability to discern such poppycock.
As such, the Todd Bentleys of the world, the false prophets and false teachers have a field day saying outrageous yarn because they know that
they have a good chance of not being called out
before they get the offering plate passed!
People of the Book, flee from such people and when you see others caught up in this madness
share the scriptures with them and try, with all
gentleness, to bring them out of this stupor…
    this fascination with the paranormal.
We Christians will fall for anything. Simply
tell folks you are a Christian and then spin your
yarns and enough folks will believe you.
Todd B., needs to be publicly rebuked for his
    foolishness.

people like you guys on this blog remind me of the pharisee’s in Jesus’ day. As matter as fact Jesus called them “you brood of vipers”.
there were some in Jesus’ day that were convinced that He was not the son of God but exactly opposite. they said he must be a devil if He can cast out devils.
you are the type of people that bash EVERY single man or woman of God that comes down the pike. if you dont agree with this man, fine, but keep it to yourself. God says alot of things in scripture about our tongues and how we can use it to tear down and trash our brother’s reputation. i just think we should watch this revival and pray for God’s discernment before we just trash him.

  14. I noticed that in Lakewood, Bentley keeps telling us the Angel of the Lord is whispering in his left ear (which according to Bentley means “healing”).

On this video, we learn that Bentley’s “Angel of the Lord” is indeed Jesus.

I’m not up on my angel-ology, but why would Jesus now appear as an angel?

Melody, I’m not bashing, I’m just really confused.

    May 16, 2008 at 12:35 pm

  15. Update:

Now here’s an interesting twist. On 5/5/08 Bentley said:

“(every year) if not the Lord himself, the angel of the Lord has appeared to me”

    http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/395328

    at 02:44

So, Bentley’s A-O-T-L is either Jesus, or some angel.

  16. sheepyweepy

Interesting. You would think he’d be able to tell the difference, especially with all the times he has (literally) visited the third heaven (astral projection), and says he has even met “the Lord” who had big brown chocolate almond eyes like Bambi and tanned olive skin.

Well what does the Scripture say? By their fruits you shall know them. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, self-control. What fruit are you guys producing with all of this? What impression will people who read this blog be left with of Jesus? Not even Jesus did what you guys are doing. In Luke 9:49 it says: “Master,” said John, “we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him, because he is not one of us.”
“Do not stop him,” Jesus said, “for whoever is not against you is for you.” Also what is the test of the Spirit, 1 John 4 says: “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God.” Todd Bentley always acknowledges that it is not him but Jesus and the Holy Spirit doing the work. Listen through an entire service. With regards to angels, what he sees is in line with what I read. Should Elisha have been alive today and recounted what had happened with him and the servant in 2 Kings 6:17 what would you have written about him? We need to be a bit more wise like Gamaliel in the New Testament. Do we think that God is not a big enough person to be able to take down someone who is running roughshod over His Name? Our duty is to pray that His will be done in all his children’s lives. Unfortunatley all I see in this blog is opinion but not much scripture to back it up. By the way – the word of God says that sign shall follow those who believe. The question all of us need to ask is: who have we led to Christ lately and what signs are following us. That’s where the focus needs to be.

    May 17, 2008 at 7:29 am

  18. sheepyweepy

You are correct Sharon. One of the fruits of the spirit IS self-control. Do you see self-control in those who are catching the contagious anointing as they are shaking, twitching, jerking, staggering, and displaying drunkeness in this spiritual inebriation (which Mr. Bentley refers to as being a Holy Ghost Lush in one of his teacing CD’s)?

Who should sheep listen to? The Florida sheep, the sheep from all around the world, or to the eye witnesses that live in the territory of the wolf and have seen his wolf tracks. Most of all, listen to the voice of the real Shepherd, and take heed to His countless warnings in the Bible.

“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. Matthew 7:15

One more thing, about the verse you quoted (Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God.) This is how you test a spirit, not a man. The spirit behind every false teaching will always teach something incorrect about Jesus Christ. Such a spirit might even add extra-biblical teaching about who Jesus is. Please listen closely to the experiences of Mr. Bentley and friends as they astral project into the third heaven and meet Jesus. Measure their words with the words of God in the Bible.

PLEASE examine these things very closely! You are in great peril if you jump into the river without testing the waters.

  19. Paul

I think there are several areas that are concerning.

    1) – People get very confused and believe that a man who calls himself a ‘man of god’ and has witnesses who say the same MUST BE a man of GOD. As soon as Gods word and ANY MAN’s word are given the same weight you have a problem.

Gods word has priority – Period.

    2) – There seems to be a lot of focus on healing, and not that much on Jesus the healer? Who heals us? By what power?

    3) – There seems to be a lot of focus on healing, and not that much on the word of God?

    4) Impartation of anointing? Sorry.. you what? So my baptism of the holy spirit isn’t good enough? Oh.. I see. The holy of holies is accessible, but I now I need to pay for front row tickets.. Blah..

    5) A cynicism is seen as a lack of faith?? – erm.. No. Paul says test everything. So If I choose not to immediately believe a man I don’t know doing things to people I don’t know and cannot verify, then I’m no less ‘faith filled’ than somebody who jumps straight in. In fact.. I have faith that God can breakthrough or even USE my cynical attitude. If God is God, and I believe he is, he’ll do his work and his fruit will be good! I think I’ll wait for the fruit.

    6) A large proportion of what happens in the outpouring meetings can be recreated without the holy spirit. Lots of it can be created purely by psychology. It has been proven. So forgive me for feeling a little skeptical. If someone with no leg grows it back.. MSG me immediately!

    7) Fruit – I went to a meeting in Dudley (a UK partner with members from freshfire ministries) and left feeling untouched, empty and more confused than ever.

    – Oh there’s lots more.. But I should really work 🙂

    blessings.

  24. Greetings,
Anyone who is interested can read and compare the “manifestations” of this revival with those found by those who practice Hinduism’s Kundalini Yoga and also the likeness of this so called “Angel” Emma or Emma-O ( as Todd has been heard calling it) with Buddhism’s “Emma-O” – Lord of Hell here: http://www.unleavenedbreadministries.org/?page=revivalspirits
I would also highly recommend listening to the Watchmen Radio Broadcast titled Mercy Endureth Forever 5-17-08
Beginning at the 21 minute marker the End Time Preacher gives his testimony of going to Fl. on or around the 15th and calling Mr. Bentley to repentance. He actually saw this so called angel Emma coming at him as if it wanted to kill him. The audio can be found here: http://watchmenradio.podomatic.com/
Todd Bentley has dubbed this as the “Most Contagious” anointing yet, and there have been reports of people just viewing some of the videos on UTube and coming under attack by demonic spirits. I advise caution when dealing with anything or anyone involved with this false revival. Be sure you’re under the Blood of Jesus Christ and walking in obedience to the Father if you’re even viewing these materials.

  25. Do you have anything on a “Watchman” called Matthew Stevens…is traveling the country with a group of “Prophets” to bring “god’s” judgments. Says God gave him a staff and tells him where to go and when he “Strikes the place with the Staff” then God’s destroys the place…Says he “used to be part of this same movement that Todd Bentley belongs to but he, and many have come out of it. Says, he has an angel that has been with him since the beginning of his ministry.
He’s coming to Jacksonville and Atlantic Beach to strike our city with his staff. Says, God showed him that “a great Tsuami will come out of the Atantic ocean and sweep over the state an one will come from Mexico Gulf and sink Fla under water… Other so called Prophets taveling with him.. Please do have your people praying…God will protect us.

  27. Mr Tickle

I have heard that the devil has a new plan:

    1)To heal the sick
    2)to raise the dead
3)to open deaf ears and eyes
4)to lead people to salvation in Jesus
5)To preach that the Kingdom of God is at hand

Honestly you guys need a wakeup call!

Its amazing how your ability to discearn the spirits is so active, sharp and accurate, but you can’t see the hand in front of your face.

Lets see how you would react when your child is instantly miraculously healed of a terminal disease – your worldly, fleshly jusdgement and critisism (sorry – spiritual discearnment) of whats happening will change in an instant.

With the conclusion that the people on this board have come to, then you would not even recognise if Jesus himself returned.

I can imagine the words “get away from I never knew you” on his lips.

It’s not too late – repent ask Jesus into your life and embrace and encourage what God is doing in Florida right now.

    bla bla bla bla bla!

Everyone keeps on saying this and saying that.. I read the first 5 chapters of Matthew in my bible and I already read of 4 angelic encounters… Hang on, wasn’t it an angel of the Lord that visited Mary and supernaturally imparted the word, the spirit of God who than produced life in her womb.. WOW! did you forget???

Talk about everyone who keeps shutting down Todd with scripture.. Doesn’t the bible mention that our battle is not of the flesh but against powers and principalities. Woops, I better not forget I have spiritual eyes that see beyond this realm of the natural..!!!

I tell ya, When God shows up, get out of his way.. Jesus was not of this world and neither are we.. We are all spiritual beings who are living a natural life..

I say you want to do research.. Than research the scriptures and be amazed how supernatural our God is.. our churches are the victims who have ruled out the power of the Holy Spirit.. And people keep forgetting Todd is a healing evangelist.. Stop comparing him to your local church and the lack of Gods manifest presence and job its trying to accomplish… You put the Holy Spirit in a box and he’l find a man to fill the gap and rebuild his house of Prayer!

Sometimes we think its the evangelist who is the false prophet, when we ourselves are all called to make disciples.. Your lifestyle whether you like it or not is your testimoney of Gods working transformation in your life.. If your not producing fruit and developing your spiritual gifts than you may aswell be a false prophet too….

Todd is the bomb and God is alive and using him.. Leave him alone and concentrate on activating your church to transform this world… Learn about your gifts and if you get famous for loving Jesus, than good for you!!! Their are room for Roxtar’s in the world, so why not in the local church!!!

    Shubba!

    roxtar,

    “Todd is the bomb” (???)

The word ‘bomb’ (probably from the Latin ‘bombus’ – deep hollow sound) is an explosive weapon detonated to release destructive material by impact or proximity to an object.

On the other hand, ‘bomb’ can also mean failure, or flop.

Either way, the ‘Bentley Bomb’ might be an appropriate and relevant term, especially since many of those researching the Florida outpouring have been warning the sheep to take cover and run to the ‘bomb shelter’.

Ok do you listen to the worship before the service?do you hear them praying for the Holy Ghost to come? Before any word is given?Does the bible not tell us that God is not corruptible?Does the bible not say that the Son ,Father and holy ghost are one?So the Holy Ghost is also incorruptible! And thus where the Holy Spirits presence is prayed for by thousands of people would it not manifest? And if it does no evil can corrupt it?

So i put it to you to explain to me how this fits in to your so called occult elements? The bibles says that even the knowledge of these dark things are an abomination?

sheepy weepy I guess its your job to find faults.. I’d like to know how many people you have personally led to Christ this year… thats just a challenging question directed prophetically at you! The testimoney of Todd has inspired me to witness and lead many to Christ.. God used him to get to me, God uses people all the time to build his kingdom and the ones getting the job done unfortunately are the ones getting slandered…

mmmmmmmmmm…… Quick run to the bomb shelter…! So I gather you’ve never heard of the word Dunamis! Well yes Todd is the bomb.. and an explosive one if that!

Todd fights the good fight.. You have a problem with him, than you obviously have a problem with God…

Funny thing is whether you or anyone have a problem, you cant stop it anyway! Outpour baby, bring it on.. All this typing while people are getting healed.. Wake up, I think personally you should change your name to sleepy sheepy…

Todd, keep on burning hot for God, I love you bro.. all the way… supporting you and your team…

Roxtar, you were the one who used the word bomb. A bomb is a manmade invention used for destructive purposes, dynamite (from dunamis) for constructive uses (building highways, clearing stumps, making way, etc.). The New Testament Greek Lexicon defines dunamis as: strength, power, and ability:

    – inherent power, power residing in a thing by virtue of its nature, or which a person or thing exerts and puts forth
    – power for performing miracles
    – moral power and excellence of soul
    – power consisting in or resting upon armies, forces, hosts

This is the power by which Christians are enabled to walk when they are available to the Holy Spirit. It is also possible for one to walk in the power of the prince of the air who is a deceiver. It is possible for such a person to rest on the power of angels, visitations, visions and heavenly out of body experiences, instead of resting on the promises and precepts of a holy God.

As Christians, WE are not to be explosive or powerful in presentation or appearance, it is GOD’S power that works through His humble servants that is explosive. His true servants do not draw attention to themselves, they are too busy serving Him. They do not take tallies of the souls they have led to Christ, for it is the Holy Spirit who does the leading, and God who does the counting.

How grieved our Lord must be to see this display.

    Sheepy,

I cant help but agree with the last two paragraphs of your reply to Roxtar. It is not what we do that is explosive or powerful but what the holy spirit trough a believer can be!

I will stop watching Todd the moment he does not acknowledge God/Jesus/Holy Ghost as the power behind the healing!

obviously you didn’t know that when you call someone ‘The Bomb’ or tell them they are the bomb.. What you are really saying is that they are awesome … In other words let me rephrase.. Todd Bentley is awesome, he has a powerful and passionate relationship with Christ, he also is obedient and prays and casts out demons, diseases and religious spirits all in the name of JESUS.. So what is your problem and all this garbage you keep on spinning about a man of God..

I left you the link that is on the internet.. so stop trying to look impressive, I’m here to stand up for a friend who has impacted and added inspiration into my life.

I’d take it you would do the same.. I love God, I love my church, I have dedicated my life to chase after Gods heart and use my gift to lead people into worship… As Todd preaches, he does the same.. Todd does not chase signs and wonders, he preaches the word and the signs and wonders follow.. God uses people who are available all over this world and all this persecution tells me that God is all over it anyway.. Go ahead and crucify Todd more, I’m not the one who wants to end up spiritually barren… Let Todd dance, just like David danced and quit slandering Men of God who has been favoured and are taking down the giants of our nations…

I love that you have a heart to warn people and all that, but this in not the case.. You cant reject and fight how the Lord is using Todd… Like is mentioned before… all this chit chat but has it stopped what is happening.. I think not and I’m sure all the people getting saved will never read this crap anyway…

This is my last message.. Good luck Sleepy Sheepy…

    • Todd Bentley is a pathological liar, no doubt about it. He truly convinces himself of these delusions and others suck it up as well. These are new age mystical gnostics, Apostle Paul would speak about such men

Todd Bentley has a powerful relationship with angels and false prophets.

And yes, God is using Todd. He is using him to give the people what they want.

    Hello Lawrence,

If you will listen closely, Todd Bentley is not preaching God’s Word. He preaches ‘some’ of it, but mostly his own words, experiences, and the words of false prophets he calls ‘great men’. Remember, a believable lie is always camouflaged with some truth. The danger is that false teaching leads sheep astray and opens them to heresies that lead to destruction.

“But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.” 2 Peter 2:1

Hi all.. Hot topic.. Good for us to discuss it with each other. As long as we’re all seeking God and focussing on him, I think this discussion can be fruitful and positive.

I recently posted some concerns I had about this “Bentley Bomb”. I think I should clarify slightly my point.

I’m not really sure what God is doing through Mr Bentley.

BUT I do believe he is trying to serve God. I do believe God is working through his ministry. But then.. God is a gracious Lord. Jesus says about people driving out demons in his name “Whoever is not against us, is for us” (Mark 9:39-40). So I think we can see this movement as ‘Good’.

My concerns are about correct theology and relationship with God. Why’s that important if God is at work? Surely, the end justifies the means?

Matthew 7: 21-23 21″Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

    – So clearly, POWER, casting out demons etc. are not the thing that God prizes. He wants relationship! Those that do miracles can EVEN be called evildoers??

This whole ‘outpouring’ seems to be about power, signs, healings. Getting this anointing and moving in it. Now, in itself, there’s nothing different there from what the disciples were called to do.. But their focus was on Jesus, not on power. In fact, when it became about pride/power Jesus chastised them greatly.

Whilst Todd Bentleys meetings go on, I find myself reduced to a concerned, aching mess. I’m saying… God is this what it’s all about? We fly to Florida and meet with you? Is this how big you are? People go on stage and you don’t heal everybody? Is this what worship is.. A good band and lots of shouting? (I’m a very charismatic worship leader.. from a lively rocking church.. so I’m asking earnestly).

My discernment tells me that somethings not quite right and it’s provoking me to get closer to God than ever before.. So in a sense, God is using Todd powerfully. So I can be a watchman.

I’m very tired.. and I’m rambling slightly.. I think I’m going to write up my thoughts and post a link.. I’m writing an essay on emotions, worship and sensationalism.

    blessings.

    Paul

Paul, you bring up some good points. The disciples preached the gospel, and the signs and wonders followed. Todd Bentley is not preaching the gospel. Sure, he preaches part of it, but it’s what he has added to it that has turned it into another gospel. You have reason to be concerned.

Thank you Watcher. I have viewed that one as well and found it very very disturbing. If this is the kind of contagious angelic visitation and impartation Todd Bentley is telling the sheep to come and get…I say head for the hills! Shepherds don’t rip the guts out of sheep, but wolves do.

Make sure everyone saves copies on your hardrives of these flv videos and mp3s you may find of bentley and the time, date and location of the statements, they will become useful in the future when he tries to take them off the internet, and or for when you or others want to make and expose films/books on this false gospel. Documentation and sources will be very important at that time when things start to dissappear as the wolf tries to cover his tracks. Make your own portal website so firemen of the Lord can look into this hellish flaming oven to help people pull the deluded from these flames (those that want to be pulled out that is).

[Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thessalonians – Chapter 2

I don’t believe that 2000 years of Christian history shows that there has been the exact Biblical example miracles performed on earth since the time of Christ and the apostles (walking on water, moving mountains, teleportation, walking through walls, drinking deadly poisons/bitten by deadly snakes and never being harmed, raising truly dead people instantly after days in tomb, making those born blind to instantly see, instantly reforming the lame limbs such as those in paraplegics, etc.).

I think what we have seen since after the time of Christ and the apostles when the Holy Bible was finished are only examples of progressive health restorations allowed by the grace of God granted through prayer or without prayers, which is not the same as the instant TRUE Biblical examples of miracles in the time of Jesus and the apostles.

But in the final final last days (the time of the apostles was also called the last days) I believe the Bible is clear that God will allow for certain exceptional “miracles/wonders” to be done by the AntiChrist and false workers around that time. We may be living in that time now.

In the past (including every example I have ever researched today) it has always been proven to be charlatan trickery and or temporary endorphin inducement feelings brought about by wishful thinking and/or self induced delusion not founded in medical fact. Otherwise the examples of claimed healings are merely examples of progressive health restoration which is natural and how God created our bodies to heal itself over time through nutrition, therapy and treatments. Some other examples do include paid actors though (I believe it was Peter Popoff who was found to be paying select people to fake their healing claims and these people traveled with him secretly to various healing shows, though today it is harder for these con artists to get away with these old school tricks, so today they use higher level hypnosis, trance inducing music and multilevel marketing systems to build show hype).

In the last days though as the above verse states, some people will give into such false sensual unbiblical gospels that God it seems will be more disgusted at mankind then usual (it reminds me of the time of Noah) and entirely give these wicked people over to their lusts and they will be damned in the end. God gives us a space to repent, but that time is not infinite, the end will come within time.

So if one day Todd Bentley can walk into a morgue and everyone in there is instantly fully restored and gets up, or he walks into a blind orphanage and all the born blind children instantly see perfectly (not I don’t mean partially blind people who can always see better under the bright lights of a Todd Bentley stage!), or go to a paraplegic hospital and suddenly new limbs reform instantly as Todd walks by truly paraplegic people, then if we see those true Biblical examples start to happen, then it is very fair to say that the REAL and FINAL end has come and the AntiChrist has arrived.

Until then no matter how much Christians pray, they are and always have been statistically all over the world as sick, blind, deaf, diseased at the same rate as non Christians who don’t pray (though their may be some minor statistic which claims those who pray to have less stress or other related internal emotional pains). Christians don’t live any longer then unbelievers either, and even entirely pagan antichrist countries such as Japan have longer lifespans then the average Christian.

The real Biblical miracle that all the physical Biblical example miracles were to point to was the gift of salvation and to mark the coming of Christ the Son and later the Holy Spirit, we bring the truth of Jesus Christ to the world which is spiritual healing to the world so that their SOULS/SPRITS might be instantly healed, but NOT their physical healing per say, as we are still in a sinful body and a sinful world until Jesus returns.

God can intervene and make any exception He wants at any time, but as history shows and the Bible implies, the only exception will happen in the last days when the antichrist is revealed “with all power and signs and lying wonders”.

Since Peter did it, no believer has ever walked on water again, neither has any truly dead person been raised after being dead for days and in a tomb like the Biblical examples (and no, resuscitation is not a biblical example of miracle). Neither can any Christian today “drink any deadly thing/poison” and have nothing happen to them as the Biblical miracle states, and if they stupidly try they will be dead within minutes if they don’t get to a hospital and get a doctor to come and pump their stomach out before it reaches their bloodstream.

I would like to say I was raised a catholic then saved in a baptist church and prayed for God to become real to me. I had an encounter with the holy spirit and was very confused I did not know what it was and church’s are scared of what is to come you must read the book of acts and ask God to give you discernment ask him to send the fire if he’s real.. I know I did not understand it all but I do understand that Jesus is the baptizer of the Holy Ghost and will make himself real to you if you come to him humbly seeking the truth. I have gone to these meetings personally and I myself have a a scar disappear after my 8yr old laid hands on it and said mommy I come in agreement that God can heal you and he did that night the scar disappeared from my neck and it was not an illusion…. Trust your inner being not man’s comments and disbelief. If you have sickness or disease have faith of a child that God can heal you not a man or woman.. IT IS VERY REAL AND SO IS JESUS>> ASK HIM INTO YOUR HEART AND YOU WILL SEE> TRUST IN HIM READ THE BIBLE AND FOLLOW YOUR HEART>>>> NOT OTHERS

Todd can’t be a false prophet unless he’s not leading people to Christ which is what he is doing. As far as you people who are judging him on what he looks like, you need to repent. God can use anyone he likes to do his work regardless of their look or past. Check out your bible people and study the people that Jesus chose as disciples (tax collectors ect). I hope that you all wake up to yourselves and love everyone as Jesus would!!!!

Friends –GOD is the GOD of new things. His message has not changed in over 2000 years but his vessels do. You can not put GOD in a box. JESUS said, “If I be lifted up I will draw all men (and women) to me. Todd Bentley is a vessel and the Holy Spirit is flowing through him. I have heard nothing but, all credit, honor and praise being given to JESUS for all that is happening through his ministry. It really is all about JESUS the Holy Son of GOD. May the kingdom of GOD spread like wildfire on the earth through this outpouring.

Think about how far man has came in just 100 years and from 100 years ago to the beginning of time. Horse and buggy to all we have seen with our eyes !!! Knowledge is increasing daily and the computer has changed our lives. Make no mistake GOD has given man this knowledge of means of travel and media explosion as a avenue to usher in his return. To reach the masses in every country in the world with his Gospel of Redemption and Love. PTL-in JESUS name-AMEN

Friends-In the word of GOD John 14:12 Jesus said “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me,the works that I do he will do also, and GREATER works than these he will do, because I go to My Father” he goes on to say ” If you ask anything in My name, I will do it” now friends these are words from JESUS himself.

We have to be in balance and realize that it is Jesus who is working through a man or woman (a vessel) doing what he said we would do in John chapter 14 with his power working in us.

I would be VERY VERY careful to judge and speak against what GOD himself is doing in and through someone.

Hebrews 13:8 says JESUS CHRIST the same yesterday, today and forever. Why do we try to explain away miracles of GOD if JESUS is the same yesterday, today and forever !!! Why would Satan do miracles (as some have said) and then allow all the credit, praise and glory be given to JESUS ?????? Go figure !!!

“Todd can’t be a false prophet”
“GREATER works than these he will do”

YOU SICK TWISTED HERETICS. NEITHER YOU NOR TODD BENTLEY CAN EVEN GET THE SICK DEAD HAIRS ON TODD’S BALD HEAD TO GROW BACK IF YOU PRAYED TO OR COMMANDED YOUR FALSE CHRIST OR EMMA FOR A THOUSAND YEARS, NEITHER COULD YOU EVER PERFORM A TRULY BIBLICAL EXAMPLE OF A MIRACLE.

THAT VERSE IS TALKING ABOUT HOW AFTER CHRIST ACENDED, THE APOSTLES WOULD GO AROUND MORE SURROUNDING AREAS TO PREACH THE WORDS OF JESUS TO A GREATER *NUMBER* OF PEOPLE TO BRING SALVATION TO A GREATER *NUMBER* OF PEOPLE IN THE WORLD AFTER THE HOLY SPIRIT CAME. POINTING PEOPLE TO SALVATION IN THE TRUE CHRIST IS THE *ONLY* TRUE MIRACLE THAT ALL OF THE SPECIAL PHYSICAL MIRACLES JESUS AND THE APOSTLES DID WERE TO POINT TO YOU. THAT IS WHY AFTER THE BIBLE FINISHED WE DO NOT HAVE THE SPECIFIC BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF MIRACLES DONE IN OUR TIME ANYMORE NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU LOOK.

I knew you would try to avoid EVERYTHING I wrote in my last post also because YOU LOVE A LIE rather then THE TRUTH of reality of this sinful world. Delusional fantasizers, just can’t face it can you. FINE GO LEARN THE HARD WAY.

We just had a lady come back from the dead who goes to our church, just last Saturday. No heart beat, no breathing no brain waves for 17 1/2 hours. She had turned cold and blue and stiff and was on the way to the morgue and woke up from death. She will be in church this coming Sunday–all credit goes to JESUS. The doctors at 3 hospitals including Cleveland Clinic shake their heads and say this is a miracle we can’t medically explain it !!! Miracles are done by JESUS to draw people to himself. 6 hardened family members have given their hearts to JESUS because of this documented miracle.

The Devil is a liar and the Father of lies. The words JESUS spoke were not just for the apostles and disciples but for us and you too. My friends GOD in his word says his word will stand for ever even into eternity.

MY friends you can’t believe some of the word of GOD and blot out what YOU THINK is not true. I am so sorry for your unbelief.

I know JESUS does miracles this very day and time we live in. I have seen them with my very own eyes !!! PTL

Wow..can’t believe I stumbled upon this.

You people and all your slandering makes me not want to ever be a Christian. According to your Bible, aren’t Christians supposed to be known by their love for one another? The spirit you guys are conjuring up attacking someone who is supposed to be your brother is astonishing. Good luck with that.

    • It’s not a Christian virtue to be simple minded. If a person truly believes that Jesus is the son of God and that he died on the cross for the sins of mankind, they will be saved. People like Todd Bentley are what mature bible teaching Christians should be warning new Christians of to stay clear of.

    Hi guys,

I get frustrated when people say things like “you should repent for speaking out against Todd Bentley because he’s Gods anointed”.

The truth is that we are required to ‘test’ the spirits. We do that by raising questions and having a grown up discussion, talking about scriptures that relate. I’m active in my faith, by making sure I don’t get ‘tricked’ into buying into a lie.

If you believe Todds ministry is Gods plan and have some evidence or testimony (like many of the contributors) that is helpful to the discussion, please post. If not, perhaps you should not polarize the argument more by posting accusatory statements.

    A couple of clarifying points…

    1) I personally believe God can and does heal today.

    2) I don’t believe everyone gets healed. (Pauls Thorn in the flesh, Timothys constant illness, Pauls companions that got sent home ill are some of the numerous scriptural references that prove Gods will is not for everyone to be healed)

    3) The greatest miracle is salvation.

My concern is not that Todd is a devil worshipper, but rather that he is one more step towards a consumer, television church that chase half way round the world to find God, when he’s with them all the time. That chase after a ‘sign’ when God gave them the greatest one. That follow the noise, when God’s in the secret place. That can’t and won’t breath for themselves, that can’t read the bible, because they’d rather see a fancy video presentation. That don’t have the patience to pray, but will watch hours of God Tv. That literally ‘worship’ god with their lips, but whose hearts are far from him. What a peverse generation.

If you call upon the name of the Lord you will be saved. Romans 10:13 In John 14:6 Jesus said “I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the Father except through me”. The greatest Miracle and marvel is that when you do your name IS recorded and written in heaven in “The Book of Life”. We also know that by his stripes we are and were healed. Isa.53:5 and 1Pet.2:24. The stripes that were laid on his back for healing and the shedding of blood for our sins. For without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. Heb.9:22 Praise GOD for his Grace and Mercy.

    Walt,

    about healing..

I agree God heals, but I don’t believe the bible says Jesus whipping before the cross secures us all healing. That is very much up to God. He is sovereign. (and it doesn’t hold up to reality.. not everybody gets healed.)

Isaiah 53:5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.

look at the language used. He was ‘pierced’ (physical action) for our transgressions (non physical, sin), Crushed (physical) for our iniquities (non physical), punishment (physical action) brought us peace, by his wounds (physical) we are .. healed.

The word for healed is rapha. Which literally means restored, brought back to fullness. It’s important to read this scripture in context. Are we truely to believe that this scripture changes instantaneously from talking about being forgiven and restored (which if you read the rest of chapter 53 you’ll see.) to healing, and then instantly back. Also breaking the literary and poetic methods he is using??

The same is true for 1 peter.

Healing is not something we can ‘claim’ because it’s due. God is sovereign and we are dependent on him. Jesus did what he saw the father doing and ONLY what the father was doing. Let us learn to do the same.

I hope this gives everyone some clarity…

Why is that when things happen that are not “normal” to us, much of the church cries Satan, demonic, false prophet? I am not here to accuse nor to pick a fight. But I ask you to look beyond normalcy and recognize that the church we have seen for the last 200 years is not normal. The Bible says the God uses foolish things to shame the wise. Look at the book of Acts. Do you think that looked normal to them? Not only was it weird, it was the FIRST time any of this had ever happened. Todd’s ministry along with others such as Bill Johnson and Morningstar are being used by God to bring the church back to what He considers NORMAL. Heaven is supernatural and we were made to interact with the supernatural through the Holy Spirit. The reason goofy things happen is that our flesh does not know how to react under such power as the anointing. Jesus went about healing ALL who were sick and oppressed of the devil. Much of the church has today effectively acts as if the devil warring against us, seeking to kill, steal and destroy has somehow become bigger than God. Jesus came that we may have life and have it more abundantly. If LIFE is happening it is God. If death, loss and destruction are happening it is either ourselves or satan. Simply put, God is good, the devil is bad.

Regarding Angels – Angels are ministers of God. Think of the angel that came to Jesus when he was in the wilderness. What if Jesus had said, “no, go away, for it will be written that Satan will come as an Angel of light.” Not all angels of light are posers. Some of them are ACTUALLY from God. God has given the Holy Spirit to us so that we can discern and not be led astray. How could an angel of darkness come and heal? I believe much of the commentary of the Lakeland Revivals is similar to the accusations Jesus received when the Pharisees said, “You cast out demons by the Prince of demons.” A house divided against itself will fall. Mark 16:20, “these signs shall follow those who believe…they will place their hands on sick people, and they will recover.” If Jesus performed signs to prove that He was the Messiah, why do we expect that we can win the world to Him simply by using persuasive words and programs. What better way to share the love of Jesus than taking a step of faith, risking our dignity and expecting God to move and fulfill His promises in our lives.

So, please, for the sake of the unity of the Body of Christ and the signs and wonders that are leading people to Christ, before judging what is and what is not a work of God, ask the Holy Spirit for discernment. He is our Helper and he will not lead us astray.

There are 2 reasons many people preach against miracles. 1) They have not seen miracles occur. They are hanging out in the wrong places/churches. I have been in the presence of a man whose eyeball GREW BACK – that is right, no eyeball, then he had an eyeball. Another man had Parkinson’s, could barely walk or remember anything, by the end of the night, after several hours of prayer, he was running through the church and gave his testimony in perfect speech.

    2) If we admit that God still does miracles, signs and wonders, as Christians, we now have a responsibility to show the LOVE OF GOD in someone’s life by bringing God into the situation and letting them KNOW (that is experiential knowledge in Biblical terms, not head knowledge like we talk about in the western world) God is good and He has their best in mind.

One of the greatest statements I have heard that clarifies this issue is this: “Jesus is PERFECT theology.” He ONLY did what he saw the Father doing and only said what He heard the Father saying. If this is true then Jesus represented God’s character and personality in the flesh. If God is a God who changes not, then it is still His desire for his children to experience Him and to be free from all types of oppression.

Watcher – I cannot speak to the validity of the video you referred to with the three men in the hotel room. Truth is, there is a lot of flakiness in the charasmatic/pentecostal churches. Unfortunately man often falls into flesh when signs and wonders, when the Holy Spirit manifests. This does not make the origins of the manifestations wrong – it simply means that immaturity and carnal nature can often enter – this is indeed satan’s tactic into ruining revival.

Now, back to the video – I cannot speak to the maturity level of the men nor the validity of the manifestations. However, the story he is retelling is apparently a vision representing God taking pharisee-like religion out of the man and replacing it with a true relationship with God (Gold). We are not called to serve God out of discipline alone – but out of passion, out of Spirit and Truth. God speaks in different ways to different personalities. Many people, particularly visual people, God gives visions which represent a work He is doing or a direction He is calling them. You’ll remember the vision Peter had Cornelius had in Acts 10 where Cornelius saw an Angel and Peter actually saw a sheet being let down from heaven and all kinds of four-footed animals, reptiles and birds. This vision was to teach Peter that God has declared what the law said was unclean as clean.

So, I will not comment on these 3 men, but to say that these types of visions are not real or Biblical is false.

Here is another video where Bentley gloats in his fleshly heretical self all the while claiming the Holy Spirit spoke directly to him and told him to commit multiple physical violent assaults
on men, old women and even the crippled in various separate services.

And after you watch the video the first time,
when you go to press the rewind button and watch it again, you will hear the exact thing that you thought you didn’t hear him say the first time you watched it!

“I have been in the presence of a man whose eyeball GREW BACK – that is right, no eyeball, then he had an eyeball. ”

If I told you that I knew a man who was nothing but evil, inside and out, whose actions were immoral and disgusting among every culture and religion on earth, until he got saved, would you believe me? He was a molester, an alcoholic, a drug addict and he beat his wife until the Lord saved him. Now he is a missionary in Africa showing the love of God to orphans and widows. I have never seen anything this dramatic personally, it is foreign to my personal experience, but I am sure it is true to someone’s experience.

Tell me, which is the greater miracle? God saving a mans soul from everything wicked and making him righteous, or a man’s eyeball growing back? Max, your statement is saying that I am either a liar or easily duped, neither is the case. I have seen God do miracles both in the soul and body. If you are a Christian you have had a miracle in your soul when you were saved, why can’t God do a miracle in one’s body. Why would a loving Father not want His child to be well?

Isaiah 53:5 says, “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
Why does “By His stripes, we were healed” not carry over to today? The church cannot continue to limit salvation to “fire-insurance.” The Greek word “sozo” translated as salvation means that we were saved Spirit, Soul and Body. The word “Shalom” means peace – nothing missing, nothing broken. In closing, 2 Cor 6:1-2:
“We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. 2 For He says:“ In an acceptable time I have heard you,and in the day of SALVATION (sozo) I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, NOW is the day of SALVATION(sozo).

To those who don’t think GOD does miracles in this day and time . Below is a link to our Church’s main page and a testimony that was on Daystar Tuesday about a woman who had died, had 3 heart attacks, flat line, no pulse, no breathing and brain dead for 17 1/2 hours. JESUS in his mercy bought her back from the dead. She was taken to Cleveland Clinic to be rechecked and the Doctors there said it was a miracle they can not it explain medically. They said during the time before she died even if she lived she would in a vegetable state.

This was GOD’s unmerited favor and grace.

  66. Paul

    Stephen.

Your quote from Isaiah is about salvation. not healing. (I wrote about it in my previous post)

Jesus does heal but Physical healing is something that God chooses to do or not do.

“Why would a loving father want his child to be unwell?” – I don’t know. Why did he allow Timothy to have frequent sickness? [1tim 5:23] (the Apostle Paul gives a medicinal recommendation, rather than praying for it btw… Why didn’t he just BAM him? or tell him to rebuke his sickness?) Paul also didn’t heal Trophimus at Miletus (2 Timothy 4:20) or Epaphroditus (Philippians 2:25-27)

God allowed Job to get pretty ill. Perhaps “my grace is enough” sums it up best.. or how about Jesus words.. “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.” John 11:4 (about lazarus). Clearly God can use all things to glorify himself.. Even sickness.

Paul never got healed from his thorn in the flesh.. I’m not building a case to say that God doesn’t heal. He does. Just that we get onto very dangerous ground when we use healing as an indication of Gods favour. Did God not favour Paul and his workers? Did Paul not have Faith?

I think if you were in a room with somebody who had no eye.. and then had one, that is argument enough.. did you know him? did you actually see him close up? was there evidence?

Paul: First of all – I appreciate your post – it was well thought out and kind. Unfortunately there are too many here that are not, so thank you. If you read my post again, you’ll see that I defined the Greek word “Sozo” which means salvation. It includes bodily healing. I agree with you that healing is not an indication of God’s favor, but of His will and His love. The beautiful thing about God is that we are all His favorite. A loving parent never for one second allows their child to just be sick – they treat it. If God is the perfect Father, why would He be different? I am not saying that everyone who gets prayed for gets healed and I am to saying that every time I have been prayed for that I have been healed, but the issue is with our unrenewed minds – not with God. We can look at Job (whose fear was the open door which got him in that situation in the first place, not God’s desire to make an example out of him as many sermons on this book essentially indicate) or several other passages of scripture, but ultimately if we look at the ministry of Jesus, we never see one who was turned away. I believe since the Bible is partly an instruction manual for how we are to live, if Jesus ever turned someone away who came to Him in faith, we would have indication of that just as we have Jesus rebuking the Pharisees to show us how “religion” is not what God is after. It says He healed ALL. Every healing or resurrection was for the Glory of God and out of love to those who had faith. As you read the Gospels, how many times does Jesus say “YOUR faith has made you whole.” God does not play Russian roulette with who He decides to heal, we do play a part in it because faith moves the heart of God.

    Stephen.

thankyou. I’d hope we can have a ‘real’ nitty gritty discussion without resorting to blows 🙂

You make some good and interesting points.

I think we can run ourselves in circles if we use our understanding of earthly principles and apply them to God. For instance, whilst God is Father, that is clearly not the entirety of his relationship with us. Rather, a shadow of what we will someday understand. Furthermore, I think it’s dangerous to use that understanding as the basis of a doctrine.

    – About Healing all

Generally the scripture says things like “Jesus went to that region and healed all who were ill”. The problem comes when you look at the greek. Actually, the better translation would be “all types of sickness”.

There are no accounts of people being turned away, though John 5:2-9 tells the story of one man who got healed, and a multitude who did not So clearly god didn’t heal everyone he came into contact with. Was there ever a time when someone’s lack of faith stopped them getting healed in Jesus Ministry? I would expect that if the Faith = healing is a solid formula.

    – About Faith

Whose faith heals whom? – Whose faith resurrected lazarus? Whose faith resurrected the dead girl? Whose faith healed the cripple in John 5:2-9? Is it the healed person or the person who prays? Cos if it’s Jesus faith… Well.. Of course he heals everytime. That then raises the question again.. Why didn’t Paul heal his co-workers Trophimus at Miletus (2 Timothy 4:20) or Epaphroditus (Philippians 2:25-27)? Was Paul not in a state to heal? or the guys who were with him and seeing his ministry?

It quickly becomes apparent to me that if we believe that it is the renewing of our mind that unlocks this healing, rather than Gods Divine providence, then we need to be newer than Paul. That can quickly lead to a religious view of God based on ‘getting newer’ – scary thought..

    June 2, 2008 at 1:07 pm

  69. Stephen

Hi Paul: I am going to work backwards here I guess. The way I see it is that the renewal of our minds comes through the washing of the Word. Faith comes by hearing, by hearing the Word of God. As we drink in His words and they begin to define our thoughts rather than the ways of the world, our tendency will be to trust God more. The battle between the Spirit and the flesh is ultimately in the mind. It is our old, carnal way of thinking (as discussed in Romans) that causes us to walk in disagreement to God’s Word, to his plan, his ways. It is not that the renewal heals us, but it allows our minds to be in a place to not talk us out of the faith we have for God to move in our lives…we can’t do this as effectively if our mind is battling our heart’s desire.

I believe Jesus worked both ways. Jesus went to Lazarus and Martha said “Even now I know You can ask God, God will give You.” I believe Martha did have an effect, however since Jesus loved Lazarus, I think He would have raised him anyway. Luke 17:9 says Rise…your faith has made you well. There are at least 3-5 accounts where Jesus says this, including His comment to the official whose daughter was dying and Jesus said that He had never seen such great faith.

You are right to say that we can no limit God as just Father. He is also our husband, our bridegroom. He is also the Lord our Healer, Jehovah Rophe. The Lord our victory, Jehovah Shalom, The Lord our Peace. The I AM. Going back to the Lord our Peace – shalom in Hebrew means “whole,” “finished,” “fulfilled,” “perfected.” Related to “well,” welfare.” Some people may say this applies to our spirit, but I believe that we are triune beings (spirit, soul, body) and that whole must apply to the WHOLE of me.

Paul, I wrote on a different post that I will not be writing on the blog anymore for various reasons – you are not one of them. I wanted to respond to you out of respect for you. See, the problem is that we all come from different backgrounds and experiences. Our pastors have had different experiences and spoken of the Bible from those experiences. Through the glasses of our experiences we often interpret the Bible. Unfortunately, no one’s experiences fully match the Bible – thus we have to take it at face value. Every scripture tied together, every act that Jesus did should form our theology of who God is, how we relate to Him and how we operate in this world. I am blessed to have been raised in a family that has taught the me the Word and surrounded me in the Word and I have seen and experienced God’s touch probably 100’s of times, particularly in the areas of healing. This is not to say that I sit here without any imperfection. I had my right eardrum removed when I was four and have believed God for a miracle restoration for years without seeing the manifestation of it. The problem is that I have just sat around most of the years hoping that Jesus would just come knocking on my door and heal me rather than going to Him to touch the hem of His garment (to give a biblical parallel). Nonetheless, I continue to believe that He will restore my eardrum and I never lose faith or get mad at Him for not doing it. I don’t understand it, but I still believe He desires to fix that in me. All I know is I have received a special grace to believe despite not YET receiving and I will continue until I experience the manifestation.

Lastly, Paul, I know you are not one of those who says “miracles don’t happen” so please do not think I believe that about you. I believe your stance is primarily, God is sovereign and He will do it as He pleases. But let me tell you one thing I have learned…God wants you involved, Paul. He is waiting to respond to your faith…I believe it excites Him. He loves it when His people take risk and pray something that can only happen through Him. There is a pastor name bill johnson at Bethel church in Redding, CA. He has a book called WHEN HEAVEN INVADES EARTH. It is a teaching based off the Lord’s prayer that makes discerning God’s will so simple. I recommend it to anyone. God bless

I just found some coverage at the Elijah List that is linking this occurance to Todd Bentley even though he had nothing to do with this:

“one fact that has not been mentioned before in other media reports is that a relative (niece-in-law) of Val, named Darla, had been prayed for by an attendee of the Lakeland Healing meetings in Florida. As this person prayed over Val’s relative, she told her that there would be “healing, revival…and restoration in her family.” At the time, the relative of Val Thomas did not know what she meant by that, but of course now, she is praising God for her Aunt Val’s resurrection.”

    http://www.elijahlist.com/words/display_word/6496

In the first clip I watched (from Walt), Val is giving glory to Jesus alone, as she rightly should. However, it looks like some people are now giving the glory to Lakeland and Todd Bentley when the glory for such a miracle belongs to the Lord and no one else.

YES JESUS should always get all the glory for any miracle. JESUS IS the one who performs the miracle. Any miracle of healing is, I believe, to point and draw people to JESUS. The greatest miracle is salvation when we are forgiven of our sins and the blood of JESUS makes us white as snow. Six of the Thomas family members have been saved and many other people in our church because of this miracle.

Do you not see what you are doing? As your brother in Christ and a member of the body I am asking you to put your FIRST priority where it should be! Which is more important to you? (Salvation of the lost or being right among your peers) If you believe that the lost can be saved through Jesus and Jesus can use YOU then stop with all the self glorified comments and pointless bickering. If you want to debate this, fine. Please do so with respect for you fellow brother or sister and ALWAYS keep in mind that the lost are all around you. You should be on your best behavior with that in mind.

    Humbly and Respectfully,

    Scott,

Thank you. Unfortunately, this is only one of many comments left on this blog daily that may get overlooked due to time constraints. REsponding to each one is very time consuming, and many of those who drop a comment never return. But for those who see this as slandering eachother, please understand the difference between slandering and warning gullible people about false teaching. If you love someone, will you not warn them when they are getting too close to the fire? The Bible warns us about false teachers, and that we are to test everything. Today there are those who do not preach the gospel of Jesus Christ who came as a humble servant to save us from our sins. He came preaching repentance. Those who preach another gospel are not our brothers, please understand. They may look like part of the sheepfold, but they have climbed in another way. They have skipped the part about repentance, without which, there can be no salvation.

This is about so much more than ‘pointless bickering’.

  81. Mary

I know one thing for sure, when all is said and done we will know who is of God and who is not. I find comfort in the Word of God and if anything is added-I feel sorry for that person because EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW AND EVERY TOUGH CONFESS THAT JESUS IS THE LORD….

  83. Guys, I’m really really sorry. But this is confused, Todd Bentley did not seriously do this because our blog is satire. Sorry for the confusion.

…by His grace, for His glory…

  85. An angel was going to come and fulfill God’s promises? I thought Jesus already did that? Must not have been good enough for Bentley and his followers.

  86. I shared this with our members the other day and thought I would share it here as it seems their are a lot of people that are judging Todd Bentley:(

Today’s Bible Verse, Thought & Prayer for 07-02-08

For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Matthew 7:2/NIV

    Thought…
Jesus is concerned that we not have a critical spirit toward others, especially about their motives as to why they did something. We can’t assume to know another person’s heart; only God can. When we are unfairly critical, overly harsh, or unduly judgmental, we need to remember that God will use that same standard on us. I don’t know about you, but I need grace. So do those I love. I’m going to try very hard to be as gracious toward others as I’m trusting that God is going to be gracious with me.

    Prayer…
Forgive me, Abba Father, for the times that I’ve been far more critical of others than I should be. Arouse within me a passion to be gracious toward others so that they can see your graciousness shining through me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

    Regards,
The Joseph V. Bednarsky Jr. Ministries Forum Team.

Thank you for your comment, Joe.

    Thought…

Jesus is very concerned that we examine those who handle and teach His Word so we are not led astray. This is why He gave us so many warnings.

The sheep must not look on in silence about this kind of thing…

It’s not about judging Todd’s motives, but about examining what he says and does. This is not called criticizing. It is called discerning truth from error, and the Bible instructs us to do so.

Yes, we all need grace. I will re-examine my methods, thank you for the reminder.

  88. todd bentley is demon possessed. emma (AKA emma-o) is a demon who is well known in pagan circles — do a google on “emma o”

EMMA-O : The deity from Japanese Mythology
Japanese Mythology. Meet the Gods of Japan. EMMA-O: King of Hell. He lives the good life in a large castle covered in gold, silver, pearls and jewels.

  89. Todd Bentley is a good example of what the Bible describes as Satan coming as an angel of light! Some/many people want a quick fix. There is no quick fix. We need more of the Bible. We need to plant our roots deep in the word of God, so that we can rightly divide the word of truth.

We must humble ourselves quietly before God, repent of our sins, and practice the fruit of the Spirit. Somebody on this message mentioned self-control, which is lacking in the numerous counterfeit revivals.

God of the Christian Bible would never ask His people to hit, kick, punch, shove, push, bam, knee, whack, anyone. This guy, Todd Bentley, is totally off the hook, demon possessed, wacky, a chalatan, liar, deceiver, fraud, etc.

This Lakeland event, which is spreading around the world, is not from God. Satan and his angels (demons) have appeared as angels of light, and are deceiving many, if possible, even the very elect of God.

Watch and pray, and stay away from Todd Bentley and and similar activities. We don’t need an annointing from angels. That is demonic. We need an annointing from God. We need to hide the word of God in our hearts (Psalm 119:11). We must test the spirits (1 John 4:1).

What Todd Bentley is doing is worse than digusting … I can’t find strong enough words to describe his actions. He is leading so many people away from God, and even in the name of Jesus!

My heart grieves deeply … for those who are sincerely searching for God, but have found a false prophet, speaking lies, cheating, stealing, hurting, and opening the doors for demons to enter into the lives of thousands upon thousands ….

Anyone who reads my message, or others, don’t allow the enemy (the devil, Satan) to steal your joy of the Lord. Don’t think that all Christians are crazy, and liars, as Todd Bentley is. He is not from God.

Find a good, rock solid, Bible believing church, where people are grounded in God’s word — practical people, who have the true fruit of the Holy Spirit, including self-control, patience, and common sense; people who care, who will offer support, counseling, asstance, down-to-earth, etc.

May God have mercy … Help us Lord.

  92. I am not condoning the behavior of Todd Bentley. As far as I am concerned he needs to repent of his adulterous affair and break it off. But I also am a healing evangelist and say there are many wrong comments on this site on the supernatural. Isn’t God supernatural? You fear any supernatural because you fear the counterfeit Kundalini spirit or the Shakti Pat introduction to the false spirit. But look at Luke 11:9-12, doesn’t God say to ask and you will receive the good from Him? I have also seen angels and spoken to them, but they aren’t a great part of my ministry, except when I do encounter a violent demonic manifestations and I ask the angels to hold that person down and they do, thus preserving myself and others from a beating. How many of you have seen these things? If you really want to see the miracles and raw power of God you must leave the US and go out to the third world where the spiritual is in your face. I just returned from 7 weeks in Brazil where the Macumba spirit is very strong. But greater is He within us and the Macumba spirit has to go.

I don’t really think Todd Bentley is of Satan, but I do think he has fallen into pride and the main problem is actually in all the charismatic movement. There is an unholy competition that has formed and all have to have the latest and greatest story to tell of an angelic encounter or some weird thing to report.
What they have forgot is that it is Jesus and only Jesus that is the one with whom we stand. He alone is the source of the supernatural power we deal with and we ourselves are nothing but a vapor in time.
About a healing evangelist going to a hospital and emptying it. That is an unfortunate comment from someone who doesn’t understand how the anointing, nor the supernatural works. We don’t control it like that, more it controls us I would say. God heals who He wants, not necessarily whom I want. It is His ministry, not my ministry. Thus you must ask Him why doesn’t He go to the hospital and empty it out, not the healing evangelist.

    Love to all
